What a surprise to find such brilliant autumn colours over a week into the winter and how they brighten up the landscape! With the first rays of the clear morning bringing out the extremity of the colour and highlighting the forms of the leaves and seed pods against a glorious sky, the close-up view of a liquid amber tree makes an eyecatching image. Way back in the 1940's, young Bega men, as a project of Bega Apex Club, planted this avenue of trees along the Bega River Reserve. Bill Cursley once proudly told me how he and his fellow Apex members created the avenue. A fine legacy!
