So, how did it all come about then? Pull up a chair and I will tell you the story of Laurentic.

It all started in a cold, vacant corner of a shed on the outskirts of Buncrana. Two boys picked up guitars and drumsticks and started bashing out their favourite songs of the time with passion. It seems so long ago but since that day when James Coyle and Neil Farren were about fifteen, they have been putting together the line-up and music that has made Laurentic.

Laurentic have been gigging together since the summer of 1999 when they took to the stage supporting local band "Tame" with a line-up that consisted of James, Neil, James Rodden and Stewart Milligan. James Rodden emigrated shorted after the first few gigs to be with his girlfriend but suggested Tommy Delaney could fill his role for an upcoming gig in Maynooth. Tommy enjoyed the Laurentic experience and decided to play on with the band. From that gig they have gone on to play gigs locally and funded the recording of their demo "Hibernate" which has received rave reviews from fans and artists alike since it was made available on Mp3.com at the end of 2000.

Since the recording of the demo the band was dealt a blow when their guitar player at the time Stewart Milligan left the band, as he no longer had sufficient time since he started work full-time. Like all good bands the remaining three members James, Neil and Tommy sat down and discussed the situation and it was decided that they would go with the three-piece option and concentrate more on increasing their set of own material.

With the new slim-line Laurentic came a stronger, tighter and more refined sound that further defined what the band wanted from a good song, the need for power, strong vocals, rocking music and a live display of passion that has been dormant since the days of Nirvana.
