Hi, this is "Laurentia". Nice sounding name? It's actually the geological term for proto-North America. I am a professional archaeologist, historian, and genealogist (specialty: Scotland). I live in the Los Angeles area. I enjoy camping, hiking, and nature. I grew up in poverty, and as an archaeologist (one of the worst paid professions) am still poor but have managed to have some wonderful adventures. I have done archaeology in Africa, the Ukraine, and Ireland. Probably the coolest thing I've ever done is to scratch the back of a wild silverback gorilla in Africa.
One of my biggest passions is music: I have always dreamed of being in a band, but have never had the time to master an instrument. So, unless I cheat and go for synthesized sound, for now I remain a very interested listener. Industrial, New Wave, Alternative, and Punk are my fave genres. My favorite bands/musicians include: Nirvana, Ministry, DEVO, Donovan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Filter, L7, Alice in Chains, Front 242, Hole, and Foo Fighters. I also like some classical and early blues. Probably the 2nd coolest thing I've ever done is to sing punk karaoke onstage with Bob Mothersbaugh of DEVO. I am dabbling in the music industry, was the Editor of Underground Sound with a readership of 745,000. I have done reviews for numerous bands of various genres.
