General Information about the
Bichon Frise
Why is the Bichon such a popular pet?
The Bichon is known for it's incredible beauty, but those that know the breed love them for their great personalities.  They are a very easy going breed and get along well with children.

What color is the Bichon?
They are white and can have shadings of buff, cream or apricot. It is very common for them to have these shadings on their heads, ears or even on their backs.  The color almost always fades by the time they are 18 months old, when their full adult coat comes in.

What size are they?
The Bichon is measured in inches (from the top of the shoulders, called the withers, to the ground) ranging between 9 and 12 inches.  The adult Bichon weighs between 10 and 18 pounds.

What is the Bichon personality like?
They are super loving, happy, playful and affectionate.  They are the perfect dog for a family with children.  They also require a lot of attention, like a small child.  They are companion dogs are and happiest when with their human/s.  They are not barkers or yappers.

What if I or someone in my family has allergies to dogs?
Well, the bichon is referred to as non-allegenic because they have low dander and are non-shedding.  Many people with asthma and other allergies have successfully owned a Bichon.

What should I expect to do about grooming my bichon?
Because the Bichon does not shed, they do require regular grooming.  Your bichon should be brushed daily and we suggest grooming every 6-9 weeks depending on the length of coat you prefer.

Are they easy to train?
YES!  We have found them very easy to train and recommend the crate method as do many veteranarians.
