| Adela Barajas, a woman with the passion and determination to bring change to the "Forgotten" part of Greater Los Angeles. As a young child she attended George Washington Carver M.S and graduated from Thomas Jefferson H.S. While attending Jefferson High School, she became the first Latina Student Body Vice-President. Adela played a major role in changing old patterns and giving hope to future generations. By the time she graduated high school she had developed an ambition to make a difference. With her leadership skills, it was easy enough for her to step in and control any situation. She became the point person to call upon to develop an action plan, find a solution, and provide guidance. In 2005, she reached a major accomplishment earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. In 2007, when her sister-in-law Laura Sanchez was brutally murdered. Adela found herself with the greatest challenge of her life. Adela's concern was to provide Laura's children and her family positive outlets to express their emotions. Her objective was to find an innovative way of transforming a cruel tragedy into a positive outcome. Adela's overall goal was to become an advocate of peace and unity in the community. Along with her family and friends L.A.U.R.A formed liaisons with their local political offices, police depts., and non-profit organizations - all sharing a common dream to make L.A a better and safer place to live. Life After Uncivil Ruthless Acts became Adela's day-to-day project. Established in 2007, L.A.U.R.A has become known all across the South Los Angeles area. |
