          Jewellery Workshop @ Lauder College

About Us

Lauder College

The College was founded in 1899 through the generosity of Andrew Carnegie, who asked that the College be named for his uncle, George Lauder.

Jewellery Workshop

The Jewellery Workshop was established in 1993, initially based in Lauder College we have now re-located to large well equipped premises within Rosyth Dockyard.

Babcock Learning Centre

Babcock Learning Centre offers a wide engineering skills portfolio of standard and bespoke training including mechanical engineering; fabrication and welding; electrical engineering; motor vehicle engineering; including fork lift truck driving; opto electronics; computer aided design and jewellery design and manufacture. Students have access to a study centre, library, student development centre all with broadband links to the main Lauder campus at Halbeath.

During 2001, a major refurbishment of the 70,000 square foot site was undertaken. This included the transfer to Rosyth of  facilities, equipment and staff from Lauder's main campus in Halbeath. The centre is already one of Scotland's largest industrial and educational training centres and is quickly earning a reputation as a centre of excellence for engineering."

As a training centre Babcock Learning Centre is playing a leading role in the massive transformation taking place in West Fife, and in particular Rosyth, once an employment centre for traditional shipbuilding and now fast becoming a high tech engineering and commercial hub for many UK wide companies.
