World Cup 2002 ~
Back to Main
It was great watching everyone gear up to host the 2002 World Cup Football (soccer) match.  S. Korea built many new stadiums and in the end pulled off a very successful, and very suprising World Cup, along with Japan.
I was fortunate enough to watch the U.S.A.-South Korea game, which was played in Taegu.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie, which was disappointing in the fact that no one really won.  Yet, in hindsight, a tie was probably best, in the fact that I still live in Korea, so no ill-feelings one way or the other!

The U.S. suprised everyone, and made it to the final 16.  However, the real Cinderella story was the S. Koreans.  Stunning Spain, Italy, Portugal and Poland, S. Korea made it to the Final Four, where they lost to favorite, Germany.
The S. Korean fan support was amazing, as millions of supporters flooded the streets during the matches.
The country really came together to make the 2002 World Cup a great success!
