| Lava Tubes ~ |

| Not far from Flagstaff, there is a wonderful, very old lava tube that is open for exploration. I believe the tube runs into the earth's belly about 3/4ths of a mile, and squeezes shut at the end, like the end of a toothpaste tube. The hike is a bit rough going, as the uneven floor and ceiling keep you checking your feet, and your head. Once you get away from the entrance, the place is pitch black, and very chilly. |
