Visiting Boundary Park

First of all you might think that you have been cold at a away game but I can promise you that you will never have been colder when you visit Boundary Park. So wrap up warm.

By Car

Boundary Park is well serviced by the mortorway network being almost on top of the end of the A627(M). So If you are coming from the North, West or East on the motorway take the exit at junction at Juncton 20 and in 2.5 miles at the juncton with A627/A663 take the long slip road to your left (obviousley). As you approach the roundabout you will find on your left a McDonalds and a KFC. For the club car park (£1 for cars and £5 for vans and coaches) tale the first exit off the roundabout onto Broadway (signposted Royton). Through the first set of traffic lights and the turn first right onto Hilbre Avenue. Then straight on into the club car park. The away fans stand is to your left. When you turn off Broadway into Hilbre Avenue there are some side streets on which you can park but if you arrive after about 13.30 there will be police on duty to stop you entering these roads.

If you want to go straight to the main enterance at the roundabout take the second exit onto A627 Chadderton Way (signposted Oldham). In 0.3 miles turn first left into Boundary Park Road and at the end turn right into Sheepfoot Lane.

From the South you can either follow the M6 to the M62 and then to Junction 20 or you could go through Manchester. Leave M6 at Junction 19 (A556) signposted Manchester and at the roundabout take the third exit for Manchester. In 4.3 miles at junction with A56/M56 at roundabout take third exit to join M56. In 6.4 miles take the left hand lane at junction 3 and in 2 miles join M60 ring road.. Remain on M60 until it terminates and at the roundabout take 3rd exit and immediatley take the right hand lanes to join M67. In 0.8 miles at junction 1 (A6017) leave motorway sign posted Ashton and at traffic lights turn left. In 1.2 miles pass Guide Bridge station and at mini-rounabout take second exit onto A6017 (signposted Huddersfield). Remain on the dual carraigeway through the traffic lights until you come to the roundabout at the junction with A627. Take the first exit off the roundabout into Cavendish Street. Through two sets of traffic lights to the top then a sharp right hand turn. At the traffic lights turn left to join A627 Oldham Road. Follow this road for 3.9 miles until the junction with A62. At the roundabout take the first exit and at the subsequent roundabout take the second exit keeping in the right hand lane join the A62 (By-Pass). In 0.3 miles at roundabout take second exit joining A627 Chadderton Way. Throught the first set of traffic lights and take the first turning right into Boundary Park Road. At the end turn right into Sheepfoot Lane.

By Train

There are two staions that you could use to get to Boundary Park. Either Oldham Mumps or Oldham Werneth. These stations are served by North West Trains on the Oldham Rochdale loop. Trains for Oldham will depart from Manchester Victoria platforms 1 or 6. If you buy a ticket to Oldham and you arrive from the South at Manchester Piccadilly your fare included travel on the Metrolink. As you exit the platforms at Piccadilly turn left for the Mertolink station. Take the tram for BURY only to get to Manchester Victoria.

Of the two Oldham Stations Werneth is nearer but it is rather desolate. Personally I would use Mumps.

From OLDHAM WERNETH exit the station and turn right onto Featherstall Road South and walk for about ¾ miles (through one set of traffic lights and a small roundabout at Tesco until you come to a large roundabout turn left onto Chadderton Way (cross over at the underpass as Chadderton Way is a dual carraigeway) and follow for another ¼ miles until you come to Boundary Park Road (by the runing track) turn right and Boundary Park is ahead. You will beapproaching the ground from the home supporters end so at the end of Boundary Park Road turn right up Sheepfoot Lane past the main stand to the other end of the ground. It is extremley unusual for any taxi's to be at Werneth station.

From OLDHAM MUMPS exit the station and under the dual carraigeway into B&Q car park walk through the car park to your left to the traffic lights at Mumps/Union Street/Yorkshire Street and take the road at 10 o'clock, Yorkshire Street (keeping the Pickwicks PH on your left) follow this road into the town center and onto the pedestrianised area then follow the sweep around to your right onto Henshaw Street following the pedestrianised area until you come to the traffic lights at the Tommyfield PH. Turn left onto St. Mary's Way and go down the hill to the bottom by the car showroom. Turn right onto Rochdale Road and follow for about a mile. After you pass the hospital turn left into Sheepfoot Lane. The away end is on your right as you get to the ground.

If you want a taxi I reccomend booking it at Victoria before you board your Oldham train. Joruney time is 12 minutes to Werneth and 15 mins to Mumps. I always use Radio Cars on 633 2277. They are very reliable.
