| Rape is not considered a crime of sex, it is regarded as a crime of power. The rapists wants to show his domanice over his victim by degrading them in the lowest way they can think of. These men are generally found to be hostile towards women to begin with, and may have been invalved in such things as animal tourture and assuault when they were young. It is a fact that men born with an XYY gene, as opposed to the XY gene, are more hostile and violent. They may even serch out violent porn and other forms of violent entetainment. What this is saying is that, "The rapist was always a rapist" and that he would have raped somone regardless of what he had seen on TV or in the movies. There have been cases where pronography has been helpful to relationships. If a couple has lost the lust in their relationships, some marriage counslers have been known to tell couples to rent pornographic videos or buy magazines so they can get ideas for things to try in their own bedrooms. Along with that there have been at least five studies that prove "Porn is not harmfull to normal people." Not only are there these studies but also the book Defending Pornography by Nadine Strossen makes the argument that sexualy explicit materials are not harmful or sexist towards women. And let's not forget that sex is a part of life. To quote former NOW President Karen DeCrow, "If one is against sexism, one is against sex." Conclusion It is my oppion that people are responsable for their own actions regardless of what they have seen on TV or in the movies. However, there is no excuese for using images of rape or abuse as a form of entertainment. I for one do not see anything entertaning about it. Sex in movies doesn't bother me, as stated above, "Sex is a part of life," but why show it in a violent form? Once again I will quote Wendy in saying, "Women don't do thiswith imagry of men.
