Yes it Does Picture this, a young girl standing alone, peaceful and content when suddenly she is atacked by numerous tentacles of demonic orgin. They strip her and they repetedly rape her in ways you would never have thought possible. Does this sound like somthing you would like to see in a movie? Oddly enough this scene is very common in hentai movies. Two popular examples of this are the movies Urotsukidoji and La Blue Girl. Urotsukidoji has been called the movie that defined the hentai genre. The basic story of the film deals with demons walking the earth, and much of the film shows these demons using tentacles to rape women. La Blue Girl depicts this as well and is considered to be a hentai classic spawning two sequels. Another popular form of Henti are the Doujinshins or Adult Manga. They are mainly drawn underground and most of them use already popular anime chareters in their stories. For example, there are more than 180 Sailor Moon based Doujinshins and some of them feature stores set around the rape of one or more of the Sailor Senshi. What makes this worse is the fact that Doujinshi in Japan are sold to readers who are under the age of 18. This can be bad because pornography gives false representations of sexual behaviors. If a person under the age os 18 reads this, they might think that such actions are socially acceptable. Not only that but many of them may become addicted to sex/pornography. In a study done on 932 sex addicts 90% of the men and 77% of the women said that pornography played a major role in their addiction. Somtimes the conection between Doujinshi and their Manga counterparts goes further. Salior Senshi Venus 5 is one such case. The girls in Vensu 5 (as it is more commonly known) match the desighs of five of the Sailor Senshi in clothing, looks, and attidue. (see chart below).

This just goes to show that many Hentai artiest do not have original ideas of their own. They just take other people's ideas and twist them from their original forms into a new perverted fantasy. As far as Venus 5 goes, Naoko Takeuchi did not intend for her creation to be used as a play thing in the fantasies of some men, and yet it is. And to depict them as being raped or beaten can only make young men think that this is okay. To quote a friend of mind, "What we are doing by encourging Hentai is encouraging their negative behaviors."

No, It Does No "Sex is popular, isn't it?" (Anonymous Hentai fan) It obviously is since there seems to be arather large market for it. MAny people have somthing against Hentai, yet many of them do not realize that pornagraphy is not a new thing. In fact it is ancient. Erotica in Asia has been around for thousands of years in the form of such works as Japan's Ukiyo-e artists, India's Karma Sutra, and the "Spring Palace Paintings" of China. Erotic love has long been a favorite subject for poets. Ancient erotica often depicts young couples, threesomes, masters with their female servents, women with other women, and even men with other men, not to mention the use of sex toys. There are in fact only two reports ever conducted that showed a negative effect from pornogaphy. They are the Meese Report by Edwin Meese and the Surgeon General's Report on Pronogaphy from 1987. The Meese report, by Edwin Meese III had been rewritten after the scientists working on the report came to the oppisite conclusion of Meese. Not only that but there have been so many things found wrong or missing in the Meese report that most scientists do not regard it as accurate. Much the same way, the Curgon General's 1987 report was disregarded because Dr. C. E. Koop, and activist for the Religious Right, wrote it. There have been more that five studies done that point towards the conclusion that pornography is not harmful. As mentioned above, "doujinshis in Japan are sold to readers under tha age of 18," and yet the rate of sex crimes in Japan is lower than that of the US. Next Page >
