I eventually bought Enjoy Incubus for $7 at a local music store near school, and I also purchased the re-released Fungus Amongus.  I was so amazed at how those two albums were so far away from the sounds of Make Yourself.  They are definitely not the same band they were when they started.  Melina burned my copies of Make Yourself and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and she soon grew to love the songs as well.  There's this one song, called Summer Romance (Anti Gravity Love Song) that we get a real kick out of.  It's very laid back.  I can see the guys in a Vegas lounge dressed in tuxedos with their hair slicked back, playing and singing this song.  It has a real jazzy/funk tone to it.  Anyway, Melina and I have dubbed it "The Publix Song."  One day we were in Publix and we heard some soft rock 80s song come on over the speakers.  We said that one day, in 15 or 20 years, they'll have songs that we like now playing in supermarkets.  And since Summer Romance is such a quiet, laid back easy listening song, we figured it would do nicely playing over the speakers in Publix while customers did their shopping.
I was able to purchase a great Incubus bootleg from a guy named Andrew who lives in Australia.  It has various shows on it, but the one I think I enjoy the most is from a tour in '98 that Incubus did with Far and Ultraspank!  It would have been great to have seen that show, especially since now both Far and Ultraspank are no longer together.  In any case, Incubus weren't as popular as they are now, and the venue was fairly small.  Brandon had really long dreads, and he was SOO skinny.  He's really skinny now, but he was even skinner back then.  Anyway, their set was awesome because it was all S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Fungus songs.  The energy was great.  Brandon talked to the audience a lot and was very witty.  I wish I could've seen them back then.
While Incubus are indeed great performers, I think the one thing that is most special about them is that they are very cool guys. They genuinely seem like very nice people.  Whenever, Ive seen them on TV and such, they're always cool and chill and down to earth.  They're very sweet to their fans and seem to really love one another. They always look like they're having so much fun.  On MTV Cribs and Celebrity Undercover, their humor just completely took me over.  They are without a doubt, some of the funniest characters out there, especially Mike and Jose.  I'd love to just follow them around and observe them for a couple of weeks.  They'd make me laugh nonstop for sure.  It's nice to see a band that hasn't let fame and success screw them up.  I hope they always stay that way.  Im sure they will.
