Incubus played the main stage at Ozzfest in 2000, and I paid them no attention.  All I had heard from them was Pardon Me and Stellar, and I wasn't the least bit impressed, nor was I interested in hearing what any of their other songs sounded like.  I shouldve given them a chance, because I was definitely missing out on something special.

At Big Day Out, I barely watched Incubus' set.  I was too excited about seeing Deftones, and could hardly stand still to watch anyone elses set.  I remember standing on the right side of the stage when The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were playing.  Mike was near the backstage area talking to Chi.  There was group of  about six guys who kept yelling Mikes name.  I wondered who they were referring to because I didnt know who Mike was at the time.  After about 5 minutes of yelling his name, Mike walked over and signed some autographs.  If I had even the slightest interest in Incubus at the time, I could have easily gotten his autograph, no problem.
When Deftones played the International Ballroom, I remember being around this girl and her friend who were just SO in love with Incubus (Deftones and Incubus were touring together at this time).  They liked Deftones too, but they were there to see Incubus mostly.  I just didn't get it.  What was the big deal, and how could anyone in their right mind think Incubus was better than Deftones?

When Incubus went on stage, I was so shocked at how many people knew all their songs.  It seemed to me that more people were there to see them than Deftones!  It just didn't make any sense.  Because the Ballroom show was filled with such confusion, I wasn't really paying attention to Incubus' set. After everything had calmed down due to the railing breaking, I was standing backstage, relishing in the fact that I was standing next to Steph from Deftones.  But I did manage to sing along to
Pardon Me and Stellar.  No, I had not come to like the songs, but that doesn't mean I didn't know them.  When songs become so popular that you hear them all the time everywhere, you end up learning every single word whether you want to or not.
