    First Gear is one of the groups Larnelle sang with in the 1970s before going solo. Produced by Myrrh, a division of Word, Inc., First Gear recorded positive funk/soul with great tunes such as "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," and "Mr. Bojangles." These hard-to-find recordings are only on LP and cassette.
