This device uses e-paper, which provides a full-color, flexible display that allows the product to fold up when not in use- making it travel friendly. It also has speakers built into the sides.
Mag-Ink, which is based in Israel, started working on colored electronic paper. Subsequently, a company called Inventables came up with the idea for the Origami DVD Player.

The lead designer,
Osman Can Ozcanli won an IDEA Award at the Industrial Design Excellence Awards for this product.
Products that are compatible for use with the Origami DVD Player include DVDs, video games, CDs, and USB sticks. Previously, the services provided by the Origami DVD Player were achieved through TVs, VCRs, DVD players, CD players and Video Game Systems.
