I'm hoping you can join me on an emergency petition from  citizens around the world to the U.N. Security Council. The petition's going to be delivered to the 15 member states of the Security Council on THURSDAY, MARCH 6.

If hundreds of thousands of us sign, it could be an enormously important and powerful message -- people from all over the world joining in a single call for a peaceful solution. But we really need everyone who agrees to sign up today. You can do so easily and quickly at:

The stakes couldn't really be much higher. A war with Iraq could kill tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and inflame the Middle East. According to current plans, it would require an American occupation of the country for years to come. And it could escalate in ways that are horrifying to imagine.

We can stop this tragedy from unfolding. But we need to speak together, and we need to do so now. Let's show the Security Council what world citizens think.

Since the sender was kind enough to take their time in sending me this email I decided to take the time to send my opinion.
I understand that you have recieved one or more emails protesting the upcoming war in Iraq. Unfortunatley we don't get to hear very much from the other side and thus only hear one opinion. I thought you might like to hear what someone who is on the front lines fighting against terror and has several close friends on the front lines in Iraq.

Im hoping you can join me in an emergency situatuion that has plagued this world, the middle east, and it's people for decades. However, no petitions are required to send to an organization lacking commitment, integrity and fortitude. The UN doesnt even have the integrity or guts to enforce its own laws so what makes you think that it will listen to any citizen of any nation? An organization that no longer stands up for the purpouses and principles for which it stands for is not only a corrupt organization, it is a useless organization.

No one cares about us out there besides our friends, family, and people working to protect us and the terrorists want nothing more than to kill us. The time for being naieve is over. Welcome to the real world. As long as there are terrorists and people like Saddam Huessein in power there will never be peace. How many people have to die before we realize that? And are we to just stand by and let terrorists kill our people and do nothing because of the fear that terrorism will continue? Terrorism may continue for a period of time if we take action but it will defenatley get worse if we do nothing. It is impossible to defend perfectly against the attacks of those who want to die but the probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.

The risk of doing nothing is greater than the risk of doing nothing. It is every nations duty to protect and defend its security and any nation that fails to do so is nothing. Just as a United Nations that fails to enforce its own constitution. What is law without enforcment? I pity those who grow weak because of the threats we will face going into Iraq. I pity them because they have already lost, they fell into the mental trap of tyrants and terrorists as Europe did 60 years ago. Saddam has purpousley placed civilians on and around military targets and continues to do so. He has already had units of his Republican guard pose as civilians in the cities and armed the women and children in Baghdad. He has already been acquiring US and British military uniforms for a special security unit. All of these are in violation of the geneva convention, and thus the laws of the UN. Not to mention the military unit that was created to decieve inspectors. He wants to create a high civilian body count, not us. Why is an organization dedicated to world peace allowing a man like him to be in power? Do not be decieved.

We all hope and pray for a peaceful solution. Just as im sure we all want world peace. But the reality is that we face real threats from people who dont care about what you think and want you dead. They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Do you think they care about your welfare when they torture and murder their own people because of their beliefs or religion?

Haven't we learned from the agreements made with Hitler before WW2? Does Munich sound familiar? It seems that the millions of lives lost in WW2 have been in vain because we seem to forget the lessons of appeasment. "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last"- Winston Churchill

More people will die if we do nothing than if we do and we can stop that from happening, and we are. If we do nothing "it could escalate in ways that are horrifying to imagine". Eleni seems to forget the lessons of history, and those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. A generation which ignores history has no past -- and no future.

Take it from someone who works in counterterrorism and knows who we are dealing with. Those who think that by attempting to make those who want them dead happy will end conflict are gravely mistaken. I have more than 30 friends in Kuwait in the Marines, ready to go to war. I do not want people to die, civilian or military. I dont want war more than anyone else, but I realize that sometimes it is necessary, as it was in WW2 and Desert Storm. Fortunatley for you there are people like me who work and make sacrifices to make sure that we no longer live in a world of terror.

We need to speak together, and we need to do so now. Let's show Saddam that we can no longer be lied to and decieved like we have been the last 12 years. I thank you for your time. We need to support our troops overseas and comfort eachother in this time of war. Lets show the world that we are still united and wont be intimidated by threats. Unbridled pacifism is the greatest threat to human life. We will triumph in the struggle of our generation. We must remain united as one people committed to a just cause, a world free of terror.

                                      Thank you
