Our wedding was scheduled at 4:00
in the afternoon so my family and I, together with the girl entourage, checked-in
at Hotel Rembrandt around lunch time to give us enough time to
prepare. It was drizzling that day. I barely touched my food
because I was so tensed and somewhat excited. I was afraid my wedding
gown won’t fit too (hehehe). Anyway, we were all primed and ready to
go. Unfortunately, the bridal car, courtesy of Ninang Naty Santos,
came to get us a few minutes late. We arrived at the church 15
minutes past four. As soon as I stepped out of the car, the ceremony
began even though some of the people in the bridal entourage has not
arrived yet.
My flower girls were
so pretty and I was glad all of them, including 20 month old Ayie, walked
down the aisle without any reluctance. While only the bible bearer
made it towards the altar. The ceremony progressed until finally the
celebrant declared that Robert and I were now one. We kissed and
heard the people clapping and congratulating us. After the picture
taking with our families and friends, we moved to the reception.
We welcomed our
guests at Shangri-La Finest Chinese Cuisine where they came to share our
first meal together as husband and wife. After the dinner, we went
around each table to take some pictures and had a little chat with the
guests. Then the traditional practice of newlyweds took place.
We sliced the cake, had the wedding toast, made the pigeons kissed each
other (didn’t toss them though since it might fly to one of the guests and
create a scene), tossed the bouquet and garter. The one who caught my
bouquet was one of my barkada, Sheila Roces while Richard Rebosa (Robert’s
brother) caught the garter. My sister Liza and my cousin Vivian
assisted in giving out the souvenirs to guests.
Everything went
fine… thanks to all the people who shared and witnessed our special day.
