VICTOR WINNING THE GROUP IN THE RAIN - THANK YOU LETITIA BETT

An Update: Two of Victor's kids rocked Fort St. John in May 2004, his son obtaining 12 points to finish his championship in a single weekend, and his daughter acquiring 9 points. These dogs reside with Laraine Guidry in Alabama. Chanel's sons Spunky and Onyx completed their championships in 2004 as pups defeating specials.

Onyx decided that he would like to compete in junior handling next with his new owner Noah Brockett, so he befriended five Irish Wolfhounds, and voila! Watch for this new team in the junior handling ring. Good luck, Noah.

Brindy's Pedigree

Ch. Bountiful Brindlene Teckelpen, my red brindle foundation bitch, produced her first very promising litter in 1992, including Hound Group winning black brindle Ch. Langlichhund Goal Digger and black brindle Ch. Langlichhund Chichi Kairobi. Digger crossed the rainbow bridge due to natural causes, aka old age, in 2006. Kairobi died peacefully in her sleep at the ripe old age of 16 years on December 30, 2008.

OUR FIRST LITTER: KAIROBI, MEDAL, & DIGGER

MULTI GROUP WINNING CH. LANGLICHHUND GOAL DIGGER

Digger's Pedigree

Digger, a Champion at seven months of age, garnered many owner handled group placements to be honoured as Canada's #3 Female/#6 ML in 1994.

Kairobi's Pedigree

CH. LANGLICHHUND CHICHI KAIROBI

Kairobi finished her championship by going Best of Winners in tough breed competition under respected judge Mr. Skip Stanbridge and was then bred to Am. Ch. Sleepytime Brit Sterling ML in North Carolina to produce multi-Group winning Ch. Langlichhund My Destiny ML.

Destiny & Dixie's Pedigree

Destiny, an 8 lb. black and tan, became Canada's #1 Female/#3 ML in 1997. Destiny was a little girl with substance, exceptional movement, coat, and showdog attitude. Regretfully, she never produced for me. Destiny escaped via a hole dug under the chain link fencing the day after a May 2006 move to the dream acreage that I had wanted to be able to provide for my dogs for 10 years. My last vision of her is merrily running free across the field, a bittersweet memory indeed. In 2007 her sister Dixie joined her at the Rainbow Bridge.

BELGATE'S MOON OVER MIAMI ML

Digger was bred to Belgate's Moon Over Miami in California to produce recessive (clear) red Ch. Langlichhund Be Coming A Long ("April").

April's Pedigree

April also finished at seven months of age and owner-handled only 9 days in 1997 became #2 Female/#5 ML in Canada. April, like her son Ringo, and his son Victor, represents the ideal 10 pound weight for miniatures in accordance with the CKC standard. She again held her status as #5 ML in the country for 1998. April is enjoying retirement from the showring and turned 13 years young in April 2008.

AM. CH. MIKLYN'S WINDJAMMER ML ROMO

April honeymooned in New York with Am. Ch. Miklyn's Windjammer ROMO to produce three lovely shaded reds in December '98.

Chanel, Ringo & Zoe's Pedigree

Ringo (centre), at 7 months of age, became another Langlichhund Champion. Still a puppy, Ringo was owner-handled in November '99 to Group 3rd and Puppy Group plus a Group 4th and Puppy Group.

In May 2000 Ringo had a spectacular weekend garnering a Group 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. In June we went to Edmonton and picked up a 33 point Group 3rd. Why stop there? On July 2, 2000, he followed up the prior day's group placement with a BEST IN SHOW. Ringo continued to be found in the Group ribbons throughout 2000 in Lethbridge, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Lloydminster. He really made his mama proud at the Prairie Dachshund Club Specialty in August 2000 by going BOS to Best in Specialty. Ringo's first show of 2001 earned him another Group 3rd placement. Then we went to Edmonton in September to obtain two more before his son, VICTOR, took over the limelight in 2002.

RINGO'S SISTER, CHANEL

Chanel finished her Canadian championship in 2001 with a 5 point win, garnering Best of Breed all 3 shows and a Group 4th in Cranbrook with Shannon and Ray.

CH. LANGLICHHUND CHANEL NO. 1 ML

Ringo decided to prove himself at home too by helping Chanel produce five beautiful puppies on July 13, 2000. Watch for these kids (Coco & Victor.) Coco now resides with her new owners in the U.S. having completed her Canadian championship in July 2001 with multiple Group placements and Puppy Group wins. Coco proudly ranked as the #5 miniature longhaired dachshund in Canada for 2001. Ringo and Chanel were also in the top 10 having hardly been out at all in 2001.

Ringo and VICTOR had fun in the U.S. in 2001. En route to the Dachshund Club of America National Specialty in Portland, Oregon, in June 2001, VICTOR went Best of Winners to earn his first point towards an American championship. DCA weekend Ringo won the Open Miniature class with Shannon Scheer, CPHA, at the helm, while VICTOR also was awarded a Third placement from the Senior Puppy class, (first and second place going to standard size dachshunds). Not bad for two young dogs at the American National. In April 2002 VICTOR was owner handled at the Dachshund Club of America National Specialty in Wisconsin and won his Open Miniature class, defeating dogs from some of America's best kennels (Sleepytime and Glenavan) for whom I have the utmost respect. There were 237 longhairs competing at this show.

CH. LANGLICHHUND COCO CHANEL ML, CANADA'S #5 ML, 2001

VICTOR earned a Puppy Group in Lethbridge, a Group 4th placement at the Evelyn Kenny show in Calgary, and finished his championship by going Best of Winners in an entry of 14 ML's at the Alberta Sporting Hound Association Specialty Show in Calgary on August 3, 2001. This was when we decided that VICTOR was READY to begin his specials career in 2002.

AM. CAN. CH. LANGLICHHUND MR. VICTOR ML

In April 2002 VICTOR earned two Group placements in Red Deer worth 115 points (special thanks to Pat Miller and Jim Reynolds). He followed this up with another Best of Winners south of the border (defeating the six standards in competition - WAY TO GO, VICTOR!!!). In May he garnered a Hound Group 1st (thank you Letitia Bett), two Group 2nds, three Group 3rds, and four Group 4ths. In June VICTOR went stateside to show off a little. He earned a 5-point U.S. Major June 18, 2002, this being the very first day of one week of shows with his buddy, Shannon! The writing was on the wall. He followed this win up with two Best of Winners for another 5-point Major (with 25 standard and miniature longhaired dachshunds entered in the classes)and one 4-point Major. VICTOR became an American Champion in a single week with TWO 5 point majors and one 4 point major, already having had one point under his belt!! Returning to Canada, VICTOR enjoyed the balance of 2002 earning another Group 1st (thank you breeder judge Judi Shurb), six more Group 2nds, three Group 3rds, and six Group 4ths in Lethbridge, Calgary, Prince George, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Penticton, Edmonton, and Red Deer! Victor became the #1 Longhaired Dachshund in Canada for 2002 and enjoyed being on the campaign trail with Shannon Scheer in 2003. With multiple group wins and placements, albeit no coveted Best in Show, Victor was a top hound contender accumulating over 1000 points during the year from February to November finishing the year as Canada's #15 Hound prior to relocating to Tokyo, Japan where internationally acclaimed dog photographer Mr. Genji Ozeki continued his campaign. I cannot believe the coat this dog has grown since relocating to Japan. Must be all that sushi!!! Victor won the hound group or received respectable group 2nds in tough competition throughout the four western provinces from Vancouver to Winnipeg. We are deservingly proud of this young, spectacular scenthound and miss him immensely since he relocated to Tokyo in December 2003 following one last go-round breeder/owner-handled at the AKC Eukanuba National Championship Show, by invitation only, in Long Beach, California. His final Canadian performance was appropriately at home in Calgary on November 28th to 30th. The journey was grand and this is one little dog I will miss a lot. Prior to his departure Victor was bred to Ch. Langlichhund Illicit Affair ML ("Annie") producing 4 lovely boys; Milo resides with his new owner Cyndi in California, while MacGyvor resides in Calgary preparing for shows with his junior handler, Jolene. In 2005 Victor officially retired. He now accompanies Takashi Kodama every day to her work at Judge's Choice Pet Food Company (appointed supplier to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II) and enjoys daily two hour walks often playing at the seaside.

Victor's Pedigree

IT'S ME, VICTOR, AGAIN, NOW AN AMERICAN CHAMPION!

VICTOR'S GROUP WIN UNDER JUDGE HANS BRUNOTTE

Chanel produced a lovely litter of three males sired by Ch. Crickhollow Satori GP. While I kept the "Smashin' Pumpkin" (Spunky) and "Onyx", Rockie has joined Deirdre Fox in Maryland to enjoy Field and Earthdog Trials. Here is a link to the Carlos/Chanel litter's pedigree: Carlos ex Chanel Pedigree

VICTOR'S GROUP WIN UNDER JUDGE HARRY PATTERSON

From Ringo and Chanel's litter whelped in February 2002, Va Va Vroom debuted by going Winners Bitch at the Prairie Dachshund Club specialty show in Calgary on August 4th, (her six month birthday) and now resides with her new family in Edmonton. Her brother, Questor, is being shown by his owner Dava Berlinger-Butler of Sacramento, California. We were so impressed with Victor and Coco, the breeding had to be repeated. Questor has been awarded his International championship having won Best of Breed three days in a row at International shows in the U.S. Questor also placed fourth in the open red miniature class at the Dachshund Club of America national specialty as well as the host club's specialty in March 2004 owner-handled. There were 8 open red ML's competing. Now Questor is a proud sire as well.

Dylan's Pedigree

CH. LANGLICHHUND WATTS UP DOX ML, "DYLAN"

Dylan is April's son sired by Ch. Brandachs No Black Roots ML. A black and tan, carrying cream, he completed his Canadian championship in March 2001. Dylan now resides with a loving family in Calgary.

Chanel and Dylan produced three red pups on February 18, 2001. Pick of this litter is a lovely red male registered as Langlichhund What A Twister ML. His new owners, Ken and Greg, reside in the San Francisco area where "mascot" Twister proudly greets all visitors to their hotel.

Digger also produced black brindle Langlichhund Babe Lincoln ML, who is proud of his siblings and get. Lincoln loves his new family in Calgary and at 10 years of age was undergoing chemotherapy. We all wish this little dog a full recovery from prostate cancer, but the Lord took him home in 2007. Lincoln's brother Langlichhund Cadillac Man ML garnered a Best Junior Puppy in Hound Group his first day out with his owner in Hong Kong and has since become an FCI Group Winner. Lincoln's sister, Ch. Langlichhund Crickhollow Pride (Porsche) is a Canadian Group placer once owned and exhibited by Laraine Guidry, Pouce Coupe, B.C. (now relocated to Alabama with her dogs of course). Before retiring to Canada's west coast, Porsche produced a beautiful litter. Two of her pups (silver dapple girls) debuted August 2000 with one of them picking up a Group 4th. Gee, this newcomer to the breed didn't waste any time reaping big rewards at the shows! Carlos, Holly, and Cricket are all Canadian champions now, and Holly produced a lovely litter in 2002. In 2003 Cricket was bred to Victor resulting in some lovely pups in September, two of whom garnered 12 and 9 points respectively in a single weekend at their first shows as junior puppies.

In June of 1999 Lincoln and April gave me a surprise (Ooops!). Her name is now Ch. Langlichhund Illicit Affair ML and she's a keeper. "Annie" completed her championship on November 29, 2003. She was bred to Ringo in June 2002, producing a red brindle male "Streakers" who is enjoying agility with his new owners in Winnipeg, a black and tan female "Jenny" now pointed by her new owner Denise Fedoruk in Kelowna, and a stunning clear red male "Flame" who is having a great time with Bonnie Azulay and family of Kingston, Ontario. Flame is a black nosed e-red who debuted in Ontario the summer of 2003 winning the breed over specials competition. In 2004 he won Best of Breed from the classes over specials at the Eastern Canada Dachshund Club specialty show and won Best of Breed both days the following weekend. Flame has completed his championship entirely novice-handled. This is no small feat, and we are very proud of Flame's quality and his owner's accomplishments! Lately he has been enjoying agility with Jan and Bonnie's son, and this team is now competing at more advanced levels.

Annie will turn 10 in June 2009 and is enjoying retirement.

CH. LANGLICHHUND ILLICIT AFFAIR ML ("ANNIE")

CH. LANGLICHHUND FLAME ALNYWICK ML

In May 2004 my dear brother Martin visited. Being the kind soul that he is he let the dogs out for me one morning when he arose before me. Funny how non-doggy people aren't really listening when you tell them upon their arrival that the reason there are dogs in the living room is that these girls are in season! A beautiful litter of three (2 boys, 1 girl) produced by Ringo and Annie resulted on July 21st (this is a repeat of the Flame breeding). There is a shaded red male, a black brindle female, and a black 'n tan female in this litter. The black 'n tan female "Freedom" (Langlichhund Tokyo Rose ML) joined Genji and Victor in Tokyo on May 29, 2005. Due to changes in Japan's importation laws effective Nov. 6, 2004, Freedom completed her Canadian championship prior to relocating upon attaining the new minimum age requirement of 10 months for importation into Japan. Freedom was awarded Best of Breed both days shown at CKOC in March '05 defeating 4 and 3 other ML's on Saturday and Sunday respectively for her first 4 points and getting the newly required Canadian major under her belt. In Winnipeg she defeated the female special for Best of Opposite Sex for a 5th point, and picked up a 6th point in Red Deer. In Saskatoon, Freedom won Winners Bitch on the Friday for 2 more points and defeated the Prairie Dachshund Club specialty show winner as Mr. Bart Miller's Best of Breed choice on the Saturday for another 2 points, completing her championship. In Medicine Hat she won Winners Bitch on Friday for 2 more safety points and was moved up to Specials for the remainder of the weekend's competition. This said, Freedom won Best of Breed on Saturday and Sunday while her sister Cookie (Langlichhund Snick Nick ML), who went Reserve Winners to her sister on the Friday, was awarded Best of Winners over the other three class entries earning her first 4 points. The shaded red male "Slade" is stunning and proved it in Red Deer (his first show) with all 3 Best of Breeds and a Puppy Group so 5 points on him in a weekend. He finished in Vernon with all 4 Best of Breed awards and a Hound Puppy Group. Black brindle female "Cookie" now resides in Red Deer having earned 6 points towards her championship as of Calgary's CKOC show in March 2006. Cookie now enjoys being the family pet with her new owners in Red Deer.

I AM FREEDOM "CH. LANGLICHHUND TOKYO ROSE ML"

On July 28, 2004, Chanel whelped her litter of four (2 males and 2 females, including 3 clear reds plus 1 black and tan girl) sired by a lovely Japanese import of predominantly American lineage, Jap. Am. Can. Ch. Phl's Aneas of Love Call Seven JP. Regretfully, the last two pups presented simultaneously, silently rupturing Chanel. The dachshund being a tough little breed, Chanel did not indicate her troubles to me and tended to her pups until she succumbed to internal bleeding a few days later on my birthday, July 30, 2004, while I was merely spectating at a local show. Upon my return home, Chanel was lifeless but warm - however, veterinary assistance with epinephrine could not bring this wonderful dog back to us. She remains a legend to the Langlichhund line and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Annie remarkably raised all eight puppies with a little help from yours truly. In light of this, my brother's little accident was truly a blessing in disguise... Of the resulting pups, the black 'n tan female "Lacy" joined Bonnie and Flame in Ontario finishing her championship and having since been bred to Flame, and two clear red boys "Santana" and "Oscar". Red female "Savanna" was earmarked to stay with me. Savanna was everything I had ever dreamed of producing as a miniature longhaired dachshund breeder. Her tragic death at only a few weeks of age resulted from puncturing of the femoral artery by another pup. Not only can the breeding not be repeated, but also this was IMO the miniature longhaired dachshund of ALL time. The extent of this loss for our breed and my resultant regrets cannot be expressed in words. Santana (Langlichhund Keepin' The Beat ML) picked up his first point debuting at the CKOC show in March '05, then was awarded Best of Winners all 3 days in Winnipeg adding another 5 points. At NACA in Edmonton in June he won the breed 2 days out of 3 with 7 ML's present, also completing his championship with a safety point. Santana loves everybody he meets and therefore greets all guests to this website on the prior page even though he now enjoys life in his permanent home with Monika and Les of Calgary. I couldn't ask for a better home for Santana, and this is why, given that I no longer show, it was my pleasure to gift him to the Rieger's who, despite having opted to extend Lincoln's life with chemotherapy treatments, inevitably lost their lovely boy to cancer at only ten years of age. Lincoln was neutered at age two, no expense was ever spared on this dog, he lived in a non-smoking environment, and yet cancer struck. Oh, the questions God leaves unanswered! We will always remember you Lincky!
