Is everybody sitting down??? In spring/summer 2010 Langlichhund will produce its final litter. So that nobody is shocked or feels they were not advised and missed the boat, I am letting you all know at this time. This will be the last homebred Langlichhund litter, and a most exciting one for sure. Before Canada's top longhaired dachshund, top miniature dachshund, and #15 hound Am. Can. Ch. Langlichhund Mr. Victor ML joined Genji Ozeki in Japan, I collected 5 straws of semen from him. All 5 straws will be implanted in Tina in late April 2010. The waitlist has already started, so if you would like to be kept apprised of this breeding, do let me know.

Ch. Langlichhund Smashin Pumpkin L (aka "Spunky", Award of Merit recipient at Canada's first dachshund national) was bred to Langlichhund Private Dancer ML (yep, my spoiled baby "Tina", never required to enter the show ring as I decided when I bought them the retirement acreage that they did not have to do that with yours truly anymore). Their litter of two boys and one girl was born December 18th, 2008, pedigree viewable HERE

Danu has joined Rocky with Deirdre Fox-Wriston in Forest Hills, Maryland. Watch for her at the AKC shows. Java has joined Laurel Batterham in Fort St. John and may be seen occasionally at the northern shows. Brandon has joined Zoe with Michele and Brian in Edmonton.

In these photos, Danu is 8 months of age.

In the following four photos, Danu is 10-1/2 weeks old.

In the next three photos, the pups are 5-1/2 weeks old.

I am sad to say that Ch. Langlichhund Chichi Kairobi passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 30th, 2008. R.I.P. "sweet little sixteen".

Congratulations to Dava, my boy Questor, and Ariel in California on their new litter born April 9, 2008. Two red girls and two red boys, all in excellent weight. I appreciate everyone responsible for the continuation of this great line as I fade into the background. The dog show world is a wonderful community.

Skipper and Mandy have completed their championships in Ontario. Major congrats from sister Tina!!

Oscar, Santana, and Lacy congratulate their daddy (grandpa to Skipper, Mandy, and Tina) CH. ANEAS OF LOVE CALL SEVEN JP ("Richard") on his BEST OF BREED WIN at the 2007 WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW held at MADISON SQUARE GARDENS in NEW YORK!!! MINIATURE LONGHAIRED DACHSHUNDS RULE~~~

Welcome to our homepage. Three year old black and tan male, Champion Langlichhund Onyx of Benjamin has a new home in Priddis, Alberta. Watch for him with his junior handler, Noah Brockett, and his new family of Irish Wolfhounds. Champion Langlichhund Forever Slade ML has joined Heather Hurst of Kyoto ML Dachshunds in Alabama to play in the U.S. showrings.

Langlichhund Oscar Wild ML proudly announces the arrival on March 17, 2007, of his two sons and one daughter out of Ch. Teckelpen Annie's Golden Socks. They are 7 weeks old in the following photos.

Here they are just 5 days old:

Langlichhund is proud to announce the arrival on May 17, 2006, of three beautiful puppies from Ch. Langlichhund Flame Alnywick ML ex Ch. Langlichhund Leather N Lace ML, both parents owned and finished to their championships by Bonnie Azulay and Jan Sneep of Ontario. These babies are TWO days old in the following pictures. I am very excited about this litter, and little "Tina" joined me here in August 2006! She is an absolute scream, and I enjoy her companionship so much, she may never hit the show ring! Tina will continue my line in the future if I ever decide to get back in the game, all of my other girls now being retired from the whelping box. Her brother Skipper and sister Mandy are enjoying the Ontario show scene having both earned majors Eastern Canada Dachshund Club weekend and since completed their championships with their breeders/owners.

In the above photo, the two day old pups are with their mom "Lacy".

Happy First Birthday Skipper and Mandy

On June 10, 2006, BIS Ch. Langlichhund King Go Ringo ML sired a litter of three (two girls and one boy) out of Ch. Taxvalpar Moulin Rouge ML Can't wait to see them strutting their stuff!

MY NAME IS SANTANA (CH. LANGLICHHUND KEEPIN' THE BEAT)

AND I BELIEVE THE WORLD IS MINE

Canada's First National Dachshund Specialty held July 2, 2005, in Portage La Prairie, was preceded the prior day by the Manitoba Dachshund Club's Regional Specialty. Both were spectacular with exhibitors from as far afield as Nova Scotia, Victoria, New York, and California. We were honoured to have such fine judges as the well-respected Emma Jean Stephenson-Dusold and Mark Houston-McMillan evaluating our showdogs.

SANTANA RECEIVED THE COVETED BEST PUPPY IN SPECIALTY SHOW AWARD AT MDC

THE SOLE AWARD OF MERIT WAS ALSO BESTOWED ON SANTANA AT MDC

SANTANA WAS ALSO THE HONOURED BEST PUPPY IN SPECIALTY AT CANADA'S FIRST NATIONAL DACHSHUND SPECIALTY

While Santana and Spunky were strutting their stuff with their owner, their mate Langlichhund Forever Slade ML was playing in Vernon with his friends Shannon and Alana Scheer. He brought home all 4 Best of Breed awards and a Best Puppy in Hound Group. Slade had already garnered 5 points and a Hound Puppy Group at his first weekend of shows in Red Deer. His third weekend out, at the Alberta Kennel Club shows, he was moved up behind one of two specials to compete for Best of Breed. His Best of Winners ribbon gave him his championship with a point to spare.

SLADE WINS THE HOUND PUPPY GROUP IN VERNON

Langlichhund Leather N Lace ML ("Lacy") is Santana's sister and was awarded Best Puppy In Group at the Ottawa shows under breeder/judge Guy Jeavons. Lacy subsequently completed her Canadian championship and was bred to Flame. Their owners and I are very excited about the resulting litter born May 2006. Tina lives with me, and her two siblings continue to be seen out and about with Bonnie and Jan in Ontario.

CH. LANGLICHHUND BE COMING A LONG (RINGO'S MOM)

B.I.S. CH. LANGLICHHUND KING GO RINGO ML (Dec. 16, 1998 - Nov. 30, 2007)

Six months have passed, it is said that time heals all, but time will not take away the pain of Ringo having been killed by his kennelmate. Oscar had become dog aggressive, got along with none of my other males, and was given one too many opportunities to do so prior to his euthanasia. Ringo paid the price for my patience with Oscar, a spoiled family pet whose family moved overseas and therefore returned him to me. Such a dog does NOT adjust to kennel life. Let this be a lesson to us all.

Dachshunds originate from Germany where they were bred to hunt badger, fox, and rabbits. Accordingly, they are bred in various sizes.

CH. LANGLICHHUND BE COMING A LONG WINNING UNDER BREEDER JUDGE MRS. BETTY MCHUGH

In Canada and the U.S.A. only two sizes are recognized. These are the standard dachshund and the miniature dachshund. The miniature dachshund should weigh no more than 11 lbs in North America at one year of age.

Internationally, three sizes are recognized; thus one hears of the standard, zwergteckel (miniature), and kaninchenteckel (rabbit dachshund). The ideal weight under FCI (international) rules for the standard dachshund is 16 lbs. Miniatures may not exceed 4 kg (9 lbs) and the rabbit dachshunds must not exceed 3.5 kg (8 lbs).

BIS CH. LANGLICHHUND KING GO RINGO ML, CANADA'S #1 LONGHAIRED DACHSHUND (BOTH VARIETIES) FOR 2000

The importance of size is clear given the dachshund's original purpose in life - to be able to go to ground through some very small tunnels. Accordingly, dachshunds in Germany are measured by the girth of their chest (miniatures maximum 13-3/4") rather than weight.

PAL, MY FIRST DACHSHUND

Having rescued an ML dachshund (Pal) in the late 1980's, I fell in love with the breed, and started attending dog shows. In the spring of 1991 I acquired Bountiful Brindlene Teckelpen, the foundation of Langlichhund Reg'd ML Dachshunds. Brindy crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2005 but will always be remembered as the true founder of Langlichhund. For over 15 years we have been blessed with neither canine intervertebral disc disease (back paralysis) nor progressive retinal atrophy (eye disease) in this line.

"BRINDY", CH. BOUNTIFUL BRINDLENE TECKELPEN

Once "Brindy" attained her championship, she was bred to Can. Am. Ch. Dachendell's Mr. Jazzman ML ROM in Minnesota to produce our first litter which included Digger, our first Group winner. We've been having fun in the dog world ever since and hope you'll enjoy our site.
