January 16, 2005 - Peace Corps held our "close-of-service" conference last week in Tagaytay. Tagaytay is just a two hour drive south of Manila but feels like California because it is cool during the day and cold at night. Two years ago, I came here with a new digital camera. Technology has left my camera behind and today it is a big dinosaur. I did not realize this until all my fellow PCV's got together for this group picture. My friends have much sleeker cameras than I do. To add insult to my shame, my friend Joe declared, "look at Lane's camera! We must all chip in to buy him a new one!" Gee whiz, my students still seem to like my camera!. |

| You know you are in the Peace Corps and surrounded by NF's (the MBTI kind) when one of your peers had everyone write a letter two years ago when we finished our initial training. Last week, we opened and read our letters that had been locked in a time capsule. What an NF moment... While reading glamour magazines for wealthy Filipinos, I would often dream of going to the dining establishments profiled. In Tagaytay, we got to visit Sonya's Garden. It is a beautiful restaurant surrounded by a delightful garden. The food was delicious - fresh salads and pasta. |

| Finally, in a funny (for me, I mean, look at all the girls) picture, you can catch a view of the sunset from the People's Park in the Sky on a cold afternoon/night. | ||||||||||
