| March 29, 2003 - In the book Island by Aldous Huxley, an idyllic community exists on a tropical island. The land is fertile and nature provides everything for the people to live. People are happy, not greedy and do not want any more than they need. This paradise cannot escape the electronic herd. First, someone sees what developed people have and greed and is born. Soon, lust for power threatens to destory the community. Haha We displaced Mindanao volunteers were given our assignment. I am going to Carigara, Leyte. Leyte is an island in the Visayas. I don't know much else. There is another volunteer from our group going there. I think that will be great. We graduate from training in one week. I have been learning Cebuano, but that community uses the Waraywaray dialect. Bummer. |

| The Chocolate Hills of Bohol are more than 1000 hills formed when Bohol was under the ocean. They are not quite brown, though this is the dry season. | |||||||||||

| On April 5, we "graduated" from training and became "real" Peace Corps volunteers. It was nice, with cultural presentations and expressions of thanks to our instructors and PC staff. | |||||||||||
