July 24, 2005 - Khao Phansa is a a public holiday to celebrate the beginning of the "buddhist lent". This is the beginning of the rainy season and Thai monks will not travel for the next three months.

To your left, is Nira (Ra), James, Orn and Ann. They are all carrying gifts to take to our temple in Saraburi.
To your right, Ra fills the monks' bowls with rice. My family also presented the monks with other foods and sweets.

Next, a sermon was given for all the worshipers. Then, each person lit 3 insence sticks and a candle to place for the buddha, as you see below.
Living with the Leardwilaianunt family has been a lot of fun. My host father Prasart (Rung), to your left in the yellow shirt, is a civil engineer. James is their only son. I too am an only child and did not have any brothers. It is nice to have a brother to play badminton and playstation with.

James is 12 years old and a 1st level student at Saraburiwittyakolm school. He has kind of adopted me as his and shows me around town and takes care of me in general.
My host mother and father might not speak a lot of english and I hardly speak a word of Thai, but they really do their best to take care of me. My host cousins, Ann and Ra, live with us and take care of me too. Thais really care of their guests and I am the lucky recipient of their wonderful hospitality.
