July 24, 2005 - Khao Phansa is a National Holiday in Thailand, a day for families to spend together and do something fun. After spending the morning at the temple and offering foods to the monks to earn merit, my family headed to the nearby town of Lopburi. Lopburi was once the capital of Thailand during the reign of King Narai in the 17th century. Lopburi is famous for its monkeys who roam free. At San Phra Khan, the monkeys roam and sometimes steal bags and shoes from visitors. Tourist police carry slingshots to hit |

| the naughty monkeys. Up above, you can see the monkeys at Prang Sam Yot are so tame, they will eat out of your hands. They will even climb up on you if you have candies or beans for them. James and I could have spent the whole afternoon playing with the monkeys... Prang Sam Yot is an interesting building architecturally. It was built with 3 towers to represet Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. |

| Finally we went to Phra Phutabbat to give offerings to the monks entering the temple. It was a sight to see the procession of orange robed monks who were entering the temple. They will not leave the temple grounds for the next 3 months. | |||||||||||
