Why No on 9?

Please join the many religious persons who are voting No on 9 because the measure:

Does nothing to "protect" our children.

Removes local control of curriculum from teachers, school administrators, and  students.

Infringes on the Constitutional right of free speech for teachers, counselors, and students.

Endangers students by limiting health education in the classroom, including HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Denies access to counselors for students questioning issues of sexuality

Jeopardizes the opportunity for honest, open dialogue in schools.

Risks school funding if one person says the wrong thing.

Enforces discrimination against one segment of our population.

Takes away teaching Oregon values of respect for others.

Is based in fear rather than a spirit of hope, love and trust.

Regardless of your personal religious beliefs on the topic of homosexuality, Measure 9 is wrong.  It is a poorly worded measure that will have dire consequences for our public schools in Oregon and the students who attend them.
