Sevilla
We got a fascinating European cultural lesson when we got to Sevilla--Celtic from Scotland was to play Porto that evening in the UEFA European finals in soccer, and the city was completely packed with soccer fans, most wearing the green and white of Celtic and most were quite drunk, putting away huge cups of beer despite the over-90-degree heat.  We actually had to cancel our plans to see the cathedral that afternoon, as it was completely surrounded by drunk soccer fans.  Fortunately, the Scottish fans don't tend to get violent, so there were no unpleasant incidents to report, but the amount of trash on the streets that evening was pretty incredible.
The Giralda, above, used to be the tower for the Mosque in Sevilla when the Moors ruled the area; the Christians later destroyed the mosque to put the cathedral there and kept the tower, though they made a few changes.  Nicole made a few friends in the gardens of the Real Alcazar, but she couldn't bring any of them with her.
We were pretty fortunate in Sevilla, because even though the days were pretty hot, they weren't as bad as they could have been in Andaluca in May.  We were able to get all of our touring done before the days got too hot or after the day's worst heat was gone.
I have some pictures of Mrida ready to go, and I'll get those up sometime soon.  Until then, have a great one!
