Mrida
There are a couple of our students in this picture--you just have to figure out which ones they are!
Two thousand years ago, Mrida was a retirement community for Roman soldiers who had come all the way to Spain to conquer and to maintain Roman control. Once they were done with their jobs, they established some cities almost as retirement communities, places where they could live as they did at home, but without going all the way back home, where they would have less than they did in Spain--less land, less power, less of everything.
We hit Mrida at the end of a very long, very intense week, but everyone was still in high spirits, and the magic of the two-thousand-year-old amphitheater and theater and bridge helped to make our visit pretty special. Of course, two days of seventy-five degrees and clear blue skies helped a bit!

Holden's a great subject for photos, simply because he actually seems to like getting his picture taken. It's a bit strange, but quite helpful!
