Welding the Door Pillars

As you can see, the engine is coming apart nicely (several skinned knuckles), and I am making some progress on the driver's side door pillar. But first, I had to fab a new bolt bracket to hold the bottom door hinges on.

Not a work of art, but functional. For the record, it was a 5/16" diameter thread with a 24 pitch. And it is spot welded into the door pillar now.

Before

This is what the new steel box looks like, and I can already feel the difference in the strength of the post. I still have some more grinding and fitting to do, but I am almost ready to weld the new footwell in. Perhaps it will get above 20 degrees F this weekend, at least long enough to do some fitting.

New footwells go in!
