Now that the engine was in place for good, I took some time and ran the brake lines that I had ordered from George at TLR...over a year ago. It was not too tough, but in the ensuing year I managed to lose the sheet that told which line was which. I think that I figured it out for the most part.

While I was trying to figure out the ancillaries of the engine, I kept my hands busy with the steering box. I did a complete rebuild, but did manage to lose one of the little steel balls on the floor. 2 hours on my hands and knees with a magnet, and I found it. And the second go around, I used a ton of sticky grease. Once it was all painted, I did a dry fit, and found that it was crooked in the new foot panel. I tried a bungee and some other methods to straighten her out, but no luck.

I took a break and wanted to shoot paint on the center console so that I could soon begin wiring, so I made a mini-paint booth in the garage. Unfortunately, it was too "mini," and the bits spun about into the mylar sheeting on several occasions as I shot paint. It was a disaster, but a good lesson learned.

Now that the engine is in place, I had to figure out all the ancillary mountings that I had been putting off. One of the biggest puzzles for me was sorting out where the brackets went for the alternator, especially since I did not have any fitted when I purchased the engine. I posted this picture, and several Ford truck guys responded with numbering schemes on how to proceed. I also spent a lot of time surfing for pictures, and squinting at jpegs that were waaay too small.
