| What if it happened differently? What if the Union lost the American Civil War, or Hitler was never born? What if the Boston Red Sox held on to Babe Ruth? That's alternate history. I've done a bit of speculating on Usenet over the last few years on the subject. It's been the subject of quite a few novels (some good, some bad) the last 10 years or so, and shows no signs of slowing down in the publishing world. One of the projects I've been involved in is the For All Nails collaborative timeline, which is a continuation of Robert Sobel's book For Want of a Nail. In this world, the British won the Battle of Saratoga and North America became a British autonomous dominion, with many rebels going to start a new life in Mexico. | I've done a little work on my own on Usenet as well. Check the links below for a glimpse of my stuff. | |||||||||||||||

| General Lee's Special Order No. 191 has been the subject of a lot of speculation on how the South could have won the American Civil War. Here, I made it the way for the North to achieve an even bigger victory. (This isn't quite the version I have previously put online... it takes into account some criticisms I recieved, and vastly cleans up the spelling.) | |||||||||||||||

| A silly, whimsical flight of fancy: What if the most famous (or infamous) misheard song lyric ever was what was really sung? What if the "official" version wasn't what was actually uttered in the recording? | |||||||||||||||
