Special Events


 
At a very special gathering, Kettering students learned about the 12 presents they get everyday from the Bill of Rights.
Students learned about how exciting math can be at a special "Superhero Math" gathering.

Mrs. Sykes' class joined the UPWARDS students for a terific fieldtrip to the AnnArbor Hands on Museum and the Natural History Museum.  It was a great day filled with lots of learning!

 
Hats off to Ms. Brinkerhoff and Ms. Cooley for planning another wonderful Holiday Make it Take it Night!
Our Friendship Feast was a big success.  Thank you to all the parents who came and helped!

Students got on the internet and learned about how Chinese New Year is different from the way we celebrate.

Students made a map of the world after studying maps and globes.

Mrs. Stacy taught the kids that weather, landguage,and religion affect cultures around the world.

Students learned that atlas' are books of maps we use to learn about the world.

Students researched about two different countries.
Essential question:
What role does culture play in the global community?
Erik-Different cultures use different kinds of money.
Patrick-Ford Motor Company sell their products and services all around the world.
Marissa-Religion, weather, and language is important to learn about different cultures.
Nakeya-Different kinds of culture look different from the clothes they wear and the food they eat.
Marvin-People can get sick and it can spread to different parts of the world.
Robert-A lot of our shoes were made in China.
Macy-Some people in Africa build houses out of grass.
Essential question:
How can we learn about major events happening in the world?
Emmalee-There are 7 continents and 4 oceans.  We live on North America, you can find Michigan by looking for a mitten on North America.
Samantha-Panda bears from China on Asia are coming to the United States, they will live in a zoo here.
Cameron-I learned that for Chinese New Year there are puppet shows and parades with a dragon.
Ciara-The presiden of Brazil in South America was shot.
Johnathan-People in Africa have different holidays.
Dominique-There are all different holidays around the world.
Essential question:
What can we learn from information in the media?
Leeann-You can remember the five types of media by learning this sentence...I never bought raw turkey...internet, news, books, radio, TV.
Logan-You can look up questions in the library because something from another side of the world can effect us.
Danielle-Say we need bananas from Brazil and they raise the prices because of their weather or something, that would effect us.
Dwayne-Current events are things that are happening right now in the present.
