Old La.10 going into the swollen Pearl River, Bogalusa. It has been replaced by an above water bridge that goes into Mississippi. I remember going across this bridge. It twisted and turned through the swamp at ground level, almost. It was mystical. But mystical as in "whether it would be above water or not", didn't cut it.
The Dead End Page (but not the last)
Off La.112, west of Forest Hill, Closed Entrance to Claiborne Muti-use Trail System. and the Kasatchie Forest. Disappointing.
That's as far as I'll go on that subject.
It wasn't that Jeep's dead end, but it was mine. He knew what lay down the "road", I didn't. And, my front wheel has been frozen by mud.
He can call JD to come get him. I'd have to call 911. Whose kidding whom? There's no cell phone service out here. Don't know why I carry it?
Common sight for residents of the Northshore. Closed US 11 over
Lake Ponchartrain. Great bridge, it just gets hit by ship traffic. I saw the closed sign on the other side on a return trip, but felt lucky.  I checked it out and it was open. Louisiana Highway Roulette.
La.380, west of Thornwell, near Lake Arthur, rice county.
The birds were "numerous" and I was not going to be the one to
upset them. Look at the wires. It was an ambush.
Named the Ferry Rd. because a ferry use to be there. Now a pontoon bridge is out there somewhere. Mermentau River, Mermentau, Louisiana,
     2004 Spring Flooding.
The street sign on the road said,"Wood Bridge Rd". It was off of La. 95, west of Chataignier (sha tan ya). I had to check it out.
Some signs call me. Some don't.
A "Half-way House Rd." road sign did not.  I almost checked it out. It could have meant a house that was used in the past for overnight boarding for stagecoach riders or something. I'm dreaming, Convict Crib.
From the Half-way House to the Big House. This is the road down to the Ferry that takes you to Angola Prison. The ultimate Dead End.
     Off La.15. north of Simmesport.
