First, my great-great grandfather PHILIBERT (PHILIP) E. LAMOUREUX, was presumably born in Cohoes, New York (Albany County 8 miles N of Albany along Highway 4 on the banks of the Hudson River near Troy) on January 5, 1873. Here is his information:
- Father: ANDRE LAMOUREUX, born in Canada (parts unidentified) ca. 1831
- Mother: MARIE ETHIER, born in Canada (parts unidentified) ca. 1832
- Andre and Marie had three sons and two daughters:
- Henry Lamoureux b. New Hampshire (where?) ca. 1859
- Louis Philias Lamoureux b. New Hampshire (where?) ca. 1861
- Delina Lamoureux b. New York (Cohoes?) ca. 1865
- Mary Lamoureux b. New York (Cohoes?) ca. 1871
- Philibert Lamoureux b. New York (Cohoes?) Jan. 5, 1873
Andre lived as "ANDREW LAMOUREUX" in Cohoes, and his son Philibert came to call himself "PHILIP." In 1892 Philibert married a CHARLOTTE (LOTTIE) A. BENNETT and in 1893 they had their only child, a daughter HELEN MARY LAMOUREUX.
Philip is said to have been a salesman, a law enforcement officer and tavern keeper. He also worked in the knitting mills in Cohoes. He died of Parkinson's Disease on October 6, 1939 in Glens Falls, New York, survived by wife and daughter.
Other details to fill in the picture:
- Charlotte A. Bennett ("Lottie") Lamoureux, lifespan January 6, 1872 to February 7, 1958, went completely blind at age 23. Charlotte's parents were killed when she was young and that she was raised by relatives thereafter.
- Philip's daughter Helen married Frank Dub�e in 1911, Troy, New York and had four daughters who were born and raised in Glens Falls, Warren County, New York: Helene (married Ted Lemery), Ethel (married George Ostrander), Frances (married Wilbert Griffin) and Lorraine (married Armand "Tony" Brouillette).
- Philip is buried in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Glens Falls, New York. Perhaps someone will recognize these names in their family trees -- these were listed in Philip's obituary as his pallbearers. Remember, these people
would be alive in 1939.

I am 28 years old, living in Rochester, NY. My mother, Helene Griffin Darmer, is the daughter of Frances Dub�e, who was the daughter of Helen Lamoreux Dub�e, the only daughter of Philip Lamoureux. Frances married Wilbert Griffin and had two daughters, Gloria and Helene, and one son, Dennis, who died in infancy.
