The Fishing Industry Standards Needs Changing |

Entanglements in fishing gear or by-catch is one of the greatest threats to marine mammals.The impact of this in the next few decades will be devistating,if nothing is done now to address this issue! |

Serious consideration has to go into solutions to this problem that marine mammals face each and every day.Such changes as new gear modifications,acoustic (pinging) devices and limited seasonal/area closures are needed to be put into place to minimize the risk to marine mammals and ensure their future in our seas and oceans. |

Stastic's state that 20-35% of whales washed upon our shores dead are a result of collisions with ships.Among many proposals that are suggested to help avoid collisions, have been re-routing vessels that are in high risk areas.Speed restrictions also need to be put into place along the migration zones as well as breeding areas. |

No official steps have been taking by the fishing industry or the commercial shipping industry world-wide.Some countries hunt whales,dolphins,etc.etc.United Nations needs to make these industries be held accountable for their actions and change marine laws to protect all marine life in general.We need to help secure marine mammals place in our oceans. |

Fishing industries of the world are at battle with marine mammals and competing with them for the food supplies that our seas and ocean provides.The whales are no match for fishing industries willing to use nets,harpoon guns and other means of destroying and eliminating their threat! Knowing this I cannot help but think of what they'll do to bring a can a tuna to our tables!We go onto their waters,net up their food supply and go to extreme measures to get the catch! You hear constant complaints from fishermen about the whales,etc.What right do they have to be mad? |

Can you honestly look at these photo's and say you don't care? I suggest for you to write,email and contact your Congress,Prime Ministers,MLA's,President's and whoever else it may be,but make your voices heard.We need to stop the senseless slaughter of our marine mammals.The fishing industry is taking more than it's fair share from our seas and oceans and the marine mammals are the one's who feel the impact.Who is infringing on who's rights?Just because they are marine mammals, doesn't mean they don't have rights! These are their seas and oceans(Their Home) not ours! It's their food we are stealing from them! I can only imagine how they view us!We are intruders into their world.When are we gonna say enough is enough? |
