Purchases were- raincoats for the patrol (53), radio/record player (54), a doll carriage for kindergarten (57) and a duplicating machine (59).

PTA sponsored�

-gave Christmas treats to children
-had rummage sales,cake sales,Tricky Trays
-Family Banquets (children�s orchestra for entertainment), Father/Son and Mother/Daughter Banquets
-had a Lalor Chorale Group
-was proactive in getting out the vote
-had parent volunteers baby-sit classes during teacher conferences
-presented Scholarships of $5-$2-$2 for most improved students
-purchased a portable record player for the school
-1954 began a Scholarship Dance

Charitable endeavors�

-Gifts to soldiers at Fort Dix
-gifts to patients at Donnelly Memorial Hospital
-canned goods collected for Florence Crittenton Mission
-Canteens to benefit March of Dimes
-Brotherhood Week, school supplies were sent over seas
-�Children�s Book Fund�
-donated to UNICEF
-donated $18 to the Damon Runyon Caneer Fund in memory of deceased member Helen Powis

-State Building Fund requested PTA to stop having Country Fair because of the -profit of $300.00(their budget was to be much less in its entirety) The budget that year was $414.00.
- They asked (from school board) for macadamized playground and outlining for games, mirrors in girls bathrooms.
- In 1954 there were 267 members.
-It is first mentioned in minutes that Ms.Nowack played the piano 3/54.
-In 1956 the outgoing president was presented with a �gossip bench�.
-2/59 Founders Day-songs, Ella Ward was made a lifemember
-2/59 Miss Burrichter announced and brought to their attention the �Mary Metcaff Bill� and support for the college bond issue

Sometime in the 50�s into the 60�s there was a half-day in September that school children were given entrance tickets to the State Fair for Children�s Day at the fair.
