AS RECORDED IN THE MINUTES AND APPROVED BY LALOR PTA Events of note� -99/2000 Mrs.Potash named Teacher of the Year -8/99 parking lot under construction -announcement that Harold Damon is the school liason to the Board of Education - 10/15 and 1/16/99 Net Day, additional work required in classrooms -Mrs.Young arranged a parent workshop at the Halloween Dance; HHW students chaperoned the children ( thank you sent ) -annual mitten collection ( Mrs.Bartkowski/guidance ) -11/99 Mrs.Patricia Seamon chosen as Lalor School's Shining Star -12/9 make and take workshop first grade -12/99 several stranger alerts -2/2000 Kim Pasquito made a lifemember -Mrs.Young outlined how she would handle lunch time playground concerns including inservice workshop -4/2000 raked,mulched and picked up trash in honor of Eaath Day 2000. -5/2000 the fifth grade planted a tree in honor of the millenium. -5/2000 the fifty students who participated in Read to Succeed sponsored by Great Adventure received one free admission to the park. -5/2000 Alumni Award 2000 presented to Sara Cordero -6/2000 Mrs.Young announced that the first floor is "hooked up to the internet" -Fall 2000, continuation of maintaining safety in and around our school -repairs underway on the roof -Super Fresh of Ewing donated Bug Life Books -Mrs.Gruschow collected goods for Thanksgiving baskets(DiPaolo donated 5 turkeys) -11/16-students,staff and PTA board particiapted in a mock election -Nov.13-17,American Education Week-our Teacher of the Year,Mrs.Gruschow honored -Mrs.Young presented information on the upcoming "Referendum" -Mrs.Young sent a letter to the Mayor requesting new playground equipment for Lalor (2001/2002) -2/2002-JoAnn Dringus made a Life Member -Mrs.Kyritsis named Teacher of the Year 2001/2002 PTA sponsored� -Back to School Night refreshments -Halloween Dance -fall '99 Six Flags Great Adventure reading program, participants who meet requirements to receive a Great Adventure ticket -9/99 announced that 2 parents could join PTA for $5 -Millenium t-shirt sale -11/99 "Titan's Night Out" -11/99"Wendy's Night Out", PTA to receive a % of sales -12/99 "Mother's Day Out"-profit $35.50 baked goods, $191 vendors -Santa Secret Shoppe-minimal profit to keep prices low -Winter holiday assembly with gifts and Santa -Teacher's luncheon -2/2000 Ice skating party -Book Fair-proceeds to purchase dictionaries for 5th graders -served and funded CAT breakfast and treat for all at conclusion of testing -funded and planted bushes, flowers and/or mulch for fall and spring Earth Day,beautification of grounds -Spring holiday candy -5/8-Teacher Appreciation Week -May Spring Concert refreshments and plaque and flowers for outgoing Treasurer,Kim Pasquito -End of Year Picnic, host and food -Back to School Night -fall fundraiser - Fall apparal sale -Wendy's Night Out -pre- holiday Cookie Dough sale -Santa Shop/Hoilday Craft Fair -revival of the Safe Arrival Program -arranged a "Lalor Art Contest" with SuperFresh -sponsored Six Flags Reading Program -family ice skating party -Winter 2001, Pizza kit sale, approx.$1,800 profit -Book Fair,$600 profit and over $700 books donated to classrooms and library -3/2001 sponsored Hawaiian Luau -Hat Day prizes -spring,MAT and ESPA breakfast and treats -Spring holiday treat for all children In the form of cash the PTA�(charitable endeavors included) -$1000 to assemblies; March,Lisa Funari-Willever,author,"The Culprit was a Fly"; March,Kits Kaboodle,a one woman show -$1450 to trips -purchased all the children a "planner" ( folders for grades k-2) -purchased paper products for classroom parties -gave a total of $480 to "classrooms"* -50/50 proceeds to purchase a new TV for the first floor -did a Thanksgiving food drive -$133 from "Box Tops" for educational items for each classroom* -2/2000 Lalor School donated $468 to the American Heart Association -spring fundraiser-Gertrude Hawe, proceeds to purchase risers ( PTA decided to purchase these risers last year but they had not met their budget; the order is under way as of July ) -Field day ribbons and refreshments -two buses for 5th grade Medieval Times trip and had bake sales during the year to help with the price of the tickets ( $6 off each ticket ) -purchase each 5th grader a signature T-shirt -$250 to 5th grade dance -purchased planners and folders for next years class -Awarded $500 Alumni Scholarship to Sarah Cordero -funded Fire Safety Assemblies -2/2000 Have A Heart- donation to the American Heart Association -purchased $91.44 in playground equipment -Steve Mav Assembly ($800) PTA concerns� -9/99 asked parents to help pass Assembly Bill A-3290 which would provide $7,000,000 additional state aid to Hamilton Township School District 12/99 Safe Arrival Program concern 6/2000-concern about broken glass and graffiti in schoolyard. Mrs.Young also reported vandalization and an attempted break in. The Hamilton Police have "beefed" up security. **Safe Arrival Program -4/2001,concern about entry into school -4/2001, concern about wasted film We received a donation of porcelain bathroom fixtures from American Standard, which are stored in the district warehouse until the funds are available for new fittings etc. At the Spring County Council meeting Lalor PTA received a certificate for 100% Teacher Membership 99/2000;10% increased membership certificate in 99/2000; " 21 Club" 99/2000; and recommended Mrs.Young for the Principals Award 99/2000.
