Chapter 4

Youre what?! Lexis screamed.

Im moving to Orlando, Arizona repeated.

Why? she questioned, still in shock from her friends statement.

Giselle is opening a new studio and she wants me to run it with Carter as my assistant, Z explained.

So it would be you and Carter, living together, in Orlando, Lexis tried to clarify.

In a nutshell, yes.

But look at what youd be giving up, she said, gesturing to the vast house they were sitting in.

Lexis, Ive been living in this same house for 23 years.  It holds too many painful memories for me to want to stay, she said as a wave of emotion swept over her.  The only thing Id be leaving behind is you.

And who am I to stand in the way of your future as a photographer to the stars, Lexis said glamorously.

Its not like Ill never see you again.  Orlando isnt that far from Miami.

I know, but Ill still miss you, Lexis said, giving her best friend a hug.

Ill miss you too, Z said.

So when do you leave? Lexis asked.

In two days.

I guess youll need help packing, huh? Lexis said, not wanting to believe her best friend was leaving.

If you dont mind, Z said.

Of course not.  Thats what best friends are for, Lexis replied, smiling at her.

*** Two Days Later ***

Carter! We havent got all day, honey, lets go! Arizona screamed up the steps.

Im sorry Ms. Park Avenue, but I cant afford to leave anything behind,  he said, descending the stairs.

Im not so rich that I can leave things behind, she replied.

Right.  And thats why you live in a mansion and were entrusted with damn near a million dollars, he exclaimed.

I was not! Z proclaimed.

Whatever Park Ave.

Alright, can we just leave.  Giselle is probably half way there already.

Fine, lets go.

They grabbed the last few remaining items and headed out to Arizonas car.  She popped the trunk and Carter threw his bags in.  They got in the car and headed out.  Arizona flipped through the radio stations, finally stopping on a station that was playing I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack.

This is a good song, she said, singing along.

Ew! Are you crazy? This is country music! Change it! Carter exclaimed.

Carter Jacobs, I swear, sometimes you act more like two then 22, Z chastised.

In response Carter stuck his tongue out and faced the window.  Arizona just rolled her eyes at his childishness.

This should be an interesting experience, she thought as they left the city of Miami and head for Orlando.
