| Chapter Four Today was the day. Jessica had let all of yesterday slip by her. She let what Nick had said seep into her. That was all she could seem to think about. If she believed in her decision so much she shouldnt be upset, right? Instead it was killing her. It wasnt making sense to her. Her decision, her choice, no one had forced this on her. Why wasnt she happy then? The answer was right in front of her face she just didnt want to admit to it. She loved Kevin. She always had and she always would. There was nothing that could change that, no matter how much she denied it. Damn it Jessica, just let it go, she said to herself. Theres nothing you can do now. You pushed him away and now hes leaving for two months. She glanced around her room, her eyes finally falling on a picture of her and Kevin from their first date. At that sight a hundred memories flooded her body. Never had she had such an over-whelming urge to be with someone. Next to that picture was one of her and Nick from their childhood. She glanced at that picture and smirked. You know me too well, Carter, she remarked. And I absolutely hate it when youre right. Without a second thought, she grabbed her purse and headed out the door. I just hope Im not too late, she thought. ************ 11:17. She silently cursed at the traffic jam she was stuck in. She was almost there and yet it was taking her so long. Come on and move, she mumbled under her breath. Just then there seemed to be a break in the unending line of cars and she swerved at it. Nearly cutting someone off, she raced down the exit ramp. She got off and pulled in the long driveway. Quickly she found a parking spot and ran inside. 11:53. She mentally kicked herself for not checking the board when she walked in as she wandered around aimlessly, searching for a sign of them. She only had till 12:30. She had to find them quick. In her rush, she ran past someone and nearly knocked them over. I am so sorry, she apologized as she reached to pick up the strangers sunglasses that she had knocked off. Thats alright. Dont worry about it, he said as he took the sunglasses from her and watched her hurry off. He looked at her for a minute and a smile formed on his face. Hey, youre going the wrong way! he called out to her. She turned around and looked at him confused. Excuse me? Kevin is at Gate 12, he said. Wait, how did you... she trailed off when recognition hit her. Oh my goodness, Howie, I am so sorry! I didnt even realize it was you. He laughed and started walking towards the terminal, Jessica right on his heels. I figured you were just in a hurry to find Kevin. Its understandable. Is he really upset? she asked sheepishly. Miserable, Howie replied. Jessica groaned at that. I never meant to hurt him. I guess I was just so afraid of being hurt I didnt think what I was doing to him But Im going to fix that right now. Howie just smiled at her. He knew Jessica would come back for Kevin. They were meant to be together. A few seconds later they arrived at the terminal. Kevin was sitting with his back to them, his head hung low. Hey Kev, I have a surprise for you, Howie called out. Howie, I really dont.... he started, turning around to look at Howie, but cut off when he saw Jessica standing there. Hi Kevin, she said meekly. Jessi, he whispered, running over and scooping her up in his arms. Im so sorry Kevin, she said as a tear escaped her eyes. I was wrong. Can you please forgive me? Of course I can, Jess. Of course I can, Kevin replied holding her to him even tighter. I love you, Kevin. I always will, Jessica said, looking into his green eyes. I love you too, Jess. Always and forever. In the background Nick stood watching them. I was right, he thought as he started to board the plane. I knew I would be right. |
