| Chapter 5: Wishes Do Come True What was that? I screamed over the blaring music. After meeting the boys in the lobby we headed out for the trendiest club in Albany. I was dancing really close with AJ and yet I couldnt hear him. I said, you dance really sexy, he screamed back. Well thank you very much, I replied as I grinded my hips to his, letting the alcohol I had take its effect on me. Your sisters a good dancer, Nick commented as he pulled Kayla closer to him. She has only been dancing for about five years, but she catches on very quickly, Kayla replied while her and Nick swayed to the music. You dance well too, Nick said, staring into her eyes. Kayla blushed and mumbled a quick thank you. Juliet and Kassandra were sitting at a table with Howie, Brian and Kevin. The two girls were still in a state of shock. They were out with the Backstreet Boys! Neither one could speak for fear of saying something ridiculous. Finally, breaking the silence, Brian asked Juliet to dance. Um, sure, she replied as he took her hand and led her onto the dance floor. Come on Kassandra, lets put them all to shame, Howie said, smiling down at her. And Ill sit here by myself, Kevin said to himself as he watched the four couples tear up the dance floor. Wow, Eve is such a good dancer, he thought as he watched her body sway to the rhythm. Tired of sitting by himself, Kevin went up and asked Nick if he could cut in. Sure man, Nick said. Kayla, Ill go grab us some drinks and meet you back at the table. Alright, Kayla said. So Eve is into AJ, huh? Kevin asked, watching her dance, practically on top of him. I dont know. I think right now shes just drunk, Kayla laughed. So shes not seeing anyone? Kevin pried. Not that I know of, she said, gazing at him suspiciously. Why? Are you into her? Kevin shifted uneasily. He glanced over to see Eve draped all over AJ. She did look plastered. Well, I, uh, its just that-- You want her, Kassandra cut in, having overheard the conversation. I, uh....yeah, I do, Kevin said, turning seven shades of red. Then go over there and ask her to dance, Howie advised. Just as Howie said that, AJ came over, practically having to carry me. I think someone had just a smidge too much to drink, AJ said, trying to keep me up. But shes not twenty-one. Howd she get the alcohol? Juliet asked, joining the group. I guess thats my fault, AJ said guiltily. Good going AJ. You know you shouldnt have let her drink, Kevin said getting defensive. Im just peachy! I said, putting my hand on his chest. Wow, you are really buff. Kevin blushed furiously. I think we need to get her back to the hotel, he said. But I wanna dance, I whined. I spun around, trying to dance, but ended up stumbling into AJ. Later, baby, later, he said helping me up. Whats going on? Nick asked as he walked over, carrying two bottles of water. Eves plastered so were heading out, Brian informed him. Oh, well, lets go then, he said, putting his arm around Kayla and leading her out the door. Woooo! Go Kayla! I screamed. Kayla spun around and flashed me a look. Someones touchy, I laughed. We all headed back for the hotel, but me, in my inebriated state, was having trouble walking. Girl, you are too much, AJ said, picking me up. I looked up and him and smiled. You have nice eyes, I said before I fell asleep in his arms. ******The Next Morning****** Ugh, sun bad, I moaned. It was nearly noon and I was still in bed. Light poured in through the open window. Well good morning, sunshine, a familiar voice said. AJ! Howd you get in here? I asked, not realizing I was still in my pajamas. I ran into the girls while we were getting breakfast. Kayla said you were still sleeping so I thought Id check on you, he explained. How are you feeling? Hung over, I said simply. Thats my fault. Im really sorry. Ill deal. We sat there for a minute and I couldnt figure out why he was staring at me. I glanced down and realized I was in my night clothes. Hey! I exclaimed. Im not dressed yet. You cant look at me! Youre quick in the morning, arent you? Not funny, I scowled, throwing a pillow at him. You shouldnt be in here anyway. Now leave so I can take a shower. A shower, huh? Need any help? he asked, a devilish grin spreading across his face. I think I can manage that one on my own. Besides, I barely know you, I replied, realizing I had only met this man the day before. Yet, for some reason, he haunted my thoughts. I think Im falling for him. But I couldnt be. Could I? Eve, back to earth. His voice penetrated my thoughts and I glanced over at him. Im sorry, did you say something? Yeah. We need to talk, he said, staring me straight in the eyes. What about? I asked, my heart beating faster. Well I--the guys and I that is--weve, well ever since we met you and the girls, weve been intrigued. You girls are different. Not different, different, but special different. Weve decided we want to know you all better. There was a pause. He looked really nervous. Not like the confident man I had seen last night on stage. I looked at him confused. I wasnt comprehending what he was saying. He saw the confusion in my eyes and started to speak again. Hell, Im not making any sense so Ill just say it. We want you and the girls to come on tour with us, he said, searching my eyes for a reaction. When I just sat there speechless he started again. We just bought a bigger bus so theres more then enough room. My mom already told the girls. Theyre ecstatic. They called and cleared it with your parents. Everyone said yes. All we need is you to say yes, he said, pleading with his eyes. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. All I could do was shake my head yes. AJ smiled then ran over and hugged me. I have to go tell the guys! he exclaimed. We leave after the show tonight so be ready. But we dont have anything to bring, I said. Dont worry. My mom arranged for you girls to go on a shopping spree this afternoon, he explained as he headed out the door. By the way, he said turning around, Im really glad you said yes. He turned back to the door and walked out. I fell back onto the bed. I was in such a daze that I barely heard my cell phone ring. Hello? I said as I put the phone to my ear. Hello Eve, said the familiar voice that nearly made me drop the phone. |
