Chapter 16:  Trouble In Paradise

Nicky, youre not supposed to do that! I exclaimed.  Kayla, your boyfriend killed me with a grenade launcher!

Sorry Princess, but thats the game, Nick laughed.

The girls and I had performed three more shows on the west coast and now everyone was headed back east to play our next show in Atlanta.

Everyone was now in the entertainment room, watching Nick and I play Golden Eye.  Me losing miserably to Nick.

Im really bad at this, I pouted.

That and youre playing against the king of video games, Nick said.

Really Nicky?  Cause I couldve sworn you were king of the nerds, I replied.

Youre just jealous because Im better then you Princess.

Right, I rolled my eyes.  I give up.  Who wants a turn?

Its all me, Brian cried.  Youre going down Frack.

Bring it on, Frick.

Soon Nick and Brian were enthralled in the game.

Im thirsty, Kevin stated.  Howie would you mind getting me a drink?

What am I?  Your servant? Howie asked.

Please? Kevin begged.

Fine.  Who else would like something while Im up?

Everyone in the entertainment room raised their hand.  Howie gave us all a look and walked out of the room.

Okay, today is August 21, so what would that make tomorrow? Kevin asked.

August 22, Nick replied, not taking his eyes off the game.

Thank you captain obvious.  What is August 22? Kevin asked.

Oh shit!  Its Howies birthday, Brian exclaimed, turning around.

Yes! Nick exclaimed, jumping up.  I won!  I won!  I-- wait, did you just say Howies birthday is tomorrow?

Way to stay focused Nicky, I said.

Yes, tomorrow is Howies birthday, Kevin said, lowering his voice.  We should reach Atlanta by morning.  I called the hotel and reserved the banquet room for after the concert.

Good thinking Kev, AJ said.

Its a surprise so dont say a word, Kevin advised.

Okay, drinks for everyone, Howie said as he carried a large tray into the room.

Thanks sweetie, Kass said as Howie handed her a cup.

So who wants a piece of me now, Nick challenged, controller in the air.

Nicky, shut up! I took the pillow next to me and hit him right in the head.

Not funny Princess, he whined and turned back to the game.

*******************

Oh my god!  Its Eternity!  Can I get your autographs?

Over here, over here!  Oh my god, I can see them!

Look Stacey, theyre right there!

It was the next night after the concert.  The boys were still performing, but the girls and I decided to go back to the hotel and set up for the party.  We left the back of the arena and were greeted by a large group of fans, most likely waiting for the boys.

I didnt know so many people liked us, Kass whispered to me.

Neither did I.

Blake, can we sign some autographs? Kayla asked our bodyguard.

Go for it, he responded.

The girls and I spent about half an hour signing autographs and talk to fans before Blake told us we had to get going.

They are so nice, I heard one fan say as we got into the van and left for the hotel.

******An Hour Later******

Wow, you guys did a good job, AJ said, looking around the banquet hall.

Thanks honey, I leaned over and kissed his cheek.

When is Howie getting here? Kass asked.

Kevin should be brining him in soon, Brian answered.

So far everyone was there but Kevin and Howie.  All the band members were there and so was everyone who worked behind the scenes.  Nick and Kayla were out on the dance floor while AJ, Brian, Juliet, Kass and I were sitting at one of the tables.

Hey Anya, hey Sebastian, I said as the two made their way over to the table.

Hey, they replied in unison.

Kass, want to dance while youre waiting for your man? Sebastian asked.

Id love to, Kass said as he took her hand and led her out onto the floor.

Where are they? AJ asked, glancing at his watch.

Theyll get here, dont worry, I said.

A few minutes passed before a pretty girl with curly red hair came up to our table.

AJ!  Brian!  Its so god to see you, she said.  Wheres Howie?

Brian and AJ exchanged nervous glances before AJ responded.

Hi Calista.

I dont believe weve met.  Im Eve, I said, eyeing her suspiciously.

Hi, Im Calista, Howies girlfriend.

********************

Kevin, how long is this going to take?  I wanted to actually get some sleep tonight, Howie complained.

What?  Kass keeping you up? Kevin joked.

Funny Kev.

It shouldnt take long, I just want you to see something, Kevin said, leading him into the banquet  room.  He opened the door slowly to allow everyone to notice.  When he entered with Howie in tow the room erupted with a loud Surprise!.

Howie stood there in shock.  His voice caught in his throat as his eyes scanned the plentiful decorations and hoards of people.

Before he cold realize it, a pair of arms were flung around his neck.  He glanced down and saw a mop of red, curly hair.

Ca-Calista? he choked out.

Happy Birthday sweetie, she exclaimed, embracing him again.

Kevin looked at him curiously, then glanced at the table where we all stood.  We all looked just as confused.

Suddenly, Kevin started pointing behind us.  We turned around to see Kass walking off the dance floor with Sebastian.  I took Kevins hint and stopped Kass as she walked past the table.

Hey Kass!  Where are you going? I asked.

To wish my boyfriend happy birthday, she said and started walking away.

You cant AJ exclaimed.

Way to be subtle, I whispered.

He glared at me as Kass turned around.

Why not? she asked, getting annoyed.

Um, because he, um, he, AJ stuttered.

Thats what I though, she said and walked off.

Oh, here we go, Juliet said.

Here what goes? Kayla asked as she and Nick returned from the dance floor.

Calistas here, Brian said.

That cant be good, Nick said with a nervous tone.

Whos Calista? Kayla asked, still confused.

Well, shes supposed to be Howies ex-girlfriend, but apparently he chickened out and she thinks theyre still together, Brian explained.

What?! Kayla exclaimed.  He still has a girlfriend!  Ill kill him.

Not if she beats you to it, I said, pointing to Kass, who was two seconds from getting her heart broken.

All we could do was stand there and watch the disaster that was waiting to happen.
