||| RIVER VOLTA |||

The town of Sogakope is conveniently located along the Volta River, making this a harbor town for ferries. On our free time during orientation we had the chance to do a bit of exploring and we walked along the rivers coast. Its absolutely beautiful during the late afternoon, when the sun is setting.

+||+ AKATSI +||+

They love pictures!When my volunteer group departed from Sogakope, we unexpectedly stopped in a town called Akatsi. Cross-Cultural Solutions has a third compound in Akatsi were volunteers are sometimes placed; however this summer they closed it down. Our drivers had to stop at the Akatsi compound to pick up a few things before heading out to Ho. While waiting we noticed a school right across the street from the compound so some of us jumped out of our vans to take a closer look. Just our luck the school children were on their recess and as soon as we foreigners walked into the schoolyard they swarmed us!

Looking at usIt was unbelievable. I dont think these kids see foreigners often from the way they swarmed us. Once we took pictures they started yelling at the top of their lungs for us to take more! They just love the flash of the camera. I dont think the kids liked my camera too much since it was a digital and they dont flash. They went really crazy when one of the volunteers has a video camera!
