Monty Adams, Music Director
received a M.M. in flute performance from Northwestern University in l996 and was the recipient of the Eckstein Prize and Nichols Award. He studied flute with Julius Baker, Harold Bennett, Kenneth Emery, Walfrid Kujala, James Pappousakis, Donald Peck, and Albert Tipton. He also studied conducting with John Paynter, Paul Aliopoulis, and Victor Yampolsky and conducted the flute choir at Northwestern University. Monty joined the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago in 1996 as a flute teacher and chamber music coach. He has been the conductor and music director of the Lakeside Flutes since 2001. Monty later joined the Evanston Township High School faculty in 2004, where he currently teaches Biology and Chemistry and directs the ETHS flute ensemble.
Monty has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, even substituting as principal flute at Ravinia and Orchestra Hall concerts, and performed as a regular member of the several Chicago Symphony chamber ensembles for over 20 consecutive years. Prior to returning to Chicago in 1981, he was the principal flutist with the U.S. Air Force Band and Orchestra in Washington D.C. under the direction of Arnold Gabriel. As soloist with the Air Force Band, Monty performed at the White House for Presidents Carter and Reagan.
Monty also performs with his wife, Phyllis Adams, in a flute and harp ensemble that performs for major social and corporate events. The duo is recognized for their innovative flute & harp transcriptions. They produced two CDs together, Opera by Request and Universal Peace. Monty and Phyllis were featured at the 25th National Flute Association convention in Chicago, and their music was featured on NPR�s All Things Considered. Their recordings are frequently played on leading classical radio stations across the country.

Betty Hibben, C Flute
after retiring as an indoor tennis club manager, Betty is now a staff teaching professional at Northbrook Racquet Club in Northbrook. Retirement also prompted a return to a special joy -- playing the flute. Dating back to the late 40's and throughout the 50's she studied with Emil Eck and� played in numerous ensembles and organizations, including the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra until 1986. Following this long hiatus Betty�resumed�her�love affair with the flute in 2004 and�studies with Sally Bowers. She is delighted to be a member of the Deerfield Community Concert Band and a "rookie" in the Lakeside Flute Choir. When not playing or teaching tennis or playing the flute she enjoys being "Grandma Betty" to her four grandchildren.
Todd Alan Kersh, Piccolo, Eb Flute & C Flute
attended the University of Iowa where he majored in Flute before receiving his BA in Dance. He has studied with Marcia Korb, Dr. Nathen Jones, Katherine Borst Jones and Roger Mather. After winning the SE Iowa Youth Artist Competition he toured as guest soloist with the SE Iowa Symphony. As a professional dancer/singer/actor Todd has performed at various Chicago area theatres, TV, Film and Cruise Lines. He also plays the piano, oboe and viola.

studied under Cheolho Kim, a flute and piccolo expert at KBS Symphony Orchestra in his native South Korea. Prior to joining Lakeside Flutes, he also studied under Ms. Tenison at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he performed with the UALR flute ensemble.
Tiffany Liu, C Flute
is currently an undergraduate student at Northwestern University majoring in Biology. She plays in the Northwestern University Marching Band and Concert Band. Her hometown is Deerfield, IL. She has been playing the flute since the age of 10. In addition to playing the flute she also plays the piano and enjoys drawing, traveling, and volunteering. Tiffany hopes to become more involved in the community through volunteering and teaching high school students in the future.

studied with Vivina Beaudreau, Judy Athmejvar, and Caroline Pittman and audited Walfrid Kujala's 1992 and 1996 master classes in orchestral performance. He has performed in high school, college and community bands and has soloed with several choirs. Patrick is a member of the National Flute Association and the Chicago Flute Club.
Fran O'Connell, Piccolo, C Flute & Alto Flute
got her introduction to the flute studying with Peggy Rohmer and Emil Eck. Flute continued to be an advocation while she pursued her graduate degree in Management. Fran returned to more serious flute playing in 1990, beginning with studying with Ruth Abbinanti.
