Rolf Viktor
Olsen, son of Odin, sailed from the North
and, as his viking ship came up the Pasig
River, he saw a "Pinay" washing
clothes at the riverbank. He scooped her
up in his arms and brought her to
Norvegr, "the way to the north".
This is our friend Bobby Manasan's
fanciful account of how I came to Norway,
which is just a little bit less fanciful
than Bobby's story. Perhaps I was a
viking in another lifetime because I took
to my new home like a duck to water. My
articles and trivia have a lot to do with
Norway, as my dream is to demonstrate how
a country that was once very poor came to
be chosen by the UN as the country with
the highest quality of life in all
aspects from among 170 countries.
Someday, somehow, the Philippines too
would no longer be as poor as it is today.
