Objectives: Students should be able to define terms used in the chapter Students should be able to apply theorems and definitions learned during the chapter
Materials: Containers Sets of 10 questions each (Number of sets depends on number of students in the class) Number Cards Question answer sheet Any drawings needed for the questions
Set Up: Teacher places the sets of questions in containers labeled with the group numbers The answers to the questions are on an answer sheet for the teacher to quickly check student's answers
Activity: Students are put into groups by the teacher using various selection methods (no more than four per group) Teacher introduces the game One student per group comes up and selects on question from their group's container The group is to work on the question until they come up with an answer When an answer is reached, one person brings the answer and question up to the teacher to be check If correct, they move on to the next question If incorrect, the group has one more try and if they still get it incorrect they must move on to the next question For each correct answer the team receives 1/2 point extra credit on the test Teacher passes out drawings (if needed for some of the questions) Students do planned activity Closing Teacher discusses any questions that students answered incorrectly Students are able to ask questions related to the chapter material
Assessment: Informal Teacher assess which questions are being missed Teacher can quickly observe the student's work on various questions Formal Teacher grades the test taken the following day |
