Harry
Potter and the Badge of Hepnoxi
Chapter
Two - Rows and Revelations Dear Harry, Hi! My
father will be picking you up at Tuesday around two o' clock. Pretend
to ask the muggles for permission, because my dad will pick you up whatever
they say. Ron "WHAT IS THAT WRETCHED OWL DOING HERE?" Uncle Vernon bellowed. Harry jumped. He was too happy about the thought of going to the Burrow, Ron's home that he had forgotten that the Dursleys were still in the dining room. "He's just giving me a letter, that's all," Harry said. Uncle Vernon's face immediately became purple. "And what do your lot want this time?" he asked through gritted teeth. "They're asking whether you can give me permission to go to their home," Harry answered back. "They're coming to pick me up at Tuesday." Uncle Vernon's face became, if possible, even more purple. "Let you go?" he repeated. "Codswallop! This is absolutely over the limit. First, this" - he pointed a threatening finger at Pig - "bloody bird comes and demolish our home, and then your lot asks us for permission to let you go to their home without any apology. I will not tolerate this kind of behaviour! GET BACK TO YOUR BEDROOM! NOW!" Harry was so angry that he carried Pig, ran up the stairs, slammed and bolted the bedroom door. When he had bolted the door, however, he had already quite forgotten his anger. Mr Weasley, Ron's father, will pick him up anyway at Tuesday, he thought. Nothing's going to stop him from leaving Privet Drive... * * * * * Finally, Tuesday came. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia sat in the kitchen, pretending to watch television. However, Harry knew perfectly well that, even though they had said they wouldn't allow Harry to go, they were afraid that someone in their opinion abnormal would come anyway. Dudley followed Aunt Petunia's instructions and locked himself in his room, clearly afraid of the experience last summer, when his tongue had got four feet long, and only came out for meals. Harry did not come down from his bedroom until five minutes to two, when he had finished packing and had sent Pig back to the Burrow. He was still feeling drowsy, partly because he was too excited last night, and that there was a continuous buzz around five that morning which made Harry stay awake, but not for long. Suddenly, there was a pop and Mr Weasley, Ron's father, appeared out of nowhere, wearing mismatched muggle clothes. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia stood up abruptly, looking furious and scared, their worst fears confirmed. "Good afternoon!" Mr Weasley said enthusiastically to Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. Aunt Petunia merely nodded, apparently too frightened to speak. Uncle Vernon however, was indifferent to his appearance in his own living room. He glanced at Mr Weasley, and returned to watching the program showing one television. Everyone except Mr Weasley stared at him. Mr Weasley said to Harry, "Bring your luggage down here, would you?" Harry went to his bedroom. How could Uncle Vernon suddenly grant permission for Mr Weasley to come take him? Mr Weasley, on the other hand, started to move the electric fireplace away, while Harry turned and walked towards his bedroom again. Aunt Petunia looked simply flabbergasted. Harry came back with his trunk and cage, still bewildered, and started towards Mr Weasley. He then took a pinch of the Floo Powder Mr Weasley gave him and threw it into the roaring flame, which turned emerald green instantly. Taking a deep breath, Harry walked into the flames and shouted, "the Burrow!" Afterwards, everything started to swirl around him until |
