I worked with Ziyadah every day for about three weeks. At the end of the three weeks he would load in the trailer easily and also would go for a walk with me down a moderately busy country road. After that I would work with him at least four times a week getting him used to unusual things that may happen to him. I would put a floppy saddle blanket on. At first he thought that it was a monster, but he realized that it was nothing that would hurt him. He was a very fast learner and had a very gentle disposition.
I kept Ziyadah for about years. I had taken him to the Columbia County Fair just to see what he would do when he was around a lot of commotion. He really showed himself off. I took him out into the exercise area and his tail went over his back and he was looking at everything. He was managable but very showy. A man and woman came up to the stall afterward and wanted to buy him, so I sold him.
About five years after that, I was talking to Sherry on the phone and she said that she had just bought a horse. It was Ziyadah. So it went from Sherry, to me, to another lady, and back to Sherry. He is now about 17 years old and is very content in his new home.
