I am 52 years young. My husband died in 1986 from a heart attack. I've been on my own since then and doing pretty well most of the time.
In 1988 I moved to Central Oregon from St. Helens, Oregon where I purchased a 14 acre horse ranch. I already had a purebred Arabian mare named H.A. Tyleah and an Arab type gelding named Sham. He was loads of fun and I really enjoyed riding him, but I sold Sham and purchased two additional mares, Phariba El Hafiza and RES Wazonna, and bred all three to an Arabian Stallion named Binni Hafiz. While I was waiting for the foals to be born, I purchased my own stallion. He was Russian bred and the son of *Tamerlan, a Russian race horse. His name was Tamerson.
I started keeping a close eye on my first mare that was due in March. On March 26, 1989, when she had a lot of wax and was leaking milk, I took my portable TV out into the barn and my lawn chair and proceeded to settle down for an exciting night. I had a feeling that it would be born very soon. Sure enough, a beautiful little colt was born about 3:00am. I named him TLC Khobar Hafiz. The second foal was born at about 5:30am in January 23, 1990. It was a filly. I named her TLC Wind Song. When the third foal was born, I noticed that he didn't act right. He died at about 36 hours old of pnumonia.
I rebred Tyleah to my stallion Tamerson and they produced a filly, which I named TLC Tamra-Leah. Shortly after that I had the sad job of putting Tamerson to sleep.
Phariba was kind of a difficult mare to breed and since I could not handle it by myself, I traded her for a Khemosabi colt. I named him TLC Primo Eclipse. I have always wanted a Khemosabi off-spring and now I had one.
I bred Tyleah to him when he was old enough and in 1998 Abufarwa's Comet was born. He was the most beautiful foal I'd ever seen.
I no longer have any horses because of unexpected financial problems; but my love for the Arabian horse has never diminished. I hope that someday I will be able to own another one.
Recently I graduated from Central Oregon Community College. I took a two-year course and received a certificate in Office Administration as a Clerical Assistant. |
