CHAPTER 2: WHAT'S DONE IS DONE
Greg: Have you seen Lori at all?
Matt: No, I haven't.
Chris: So you haven't seen her?
Matt: I haven't seen her since she liked flipped out. Why? Have you guys seen her?
Frankie: We saw her go into Claire's.
Matt: Did she say anything?
Chris: No. Sorry dude. She did look really upset though.
Jesse: She looked like someone just knocked her over a broom.
Matt: I never should have done that. I didn't know anything about her now come to find out she's crushin' on me. I'm such a jerk.
Chris: Shouldn't have done what?
Matt: Said that she was my girlfriend. If I didn't she might still be here.
Chris: You like her?
Matt: I'd have to get to know her better, but I doubt that'll happen. She's probably long gone by now.
Frankie: Yeah you're probably right. There's only one problem.
Matt: And what's that?
Frankie: She's not long gone. She's like standing right behind you.
Matt: Come on Frankie. Don't lie to me.
Frankie: I'm not lying.
Matt: Is she really standing right behind me?
Narrator: The guys looked at Lori, who was standing behind him, then looked at their friend.
Guys: Yes!!
Narrator: Matt turned around and saw Lori standing there, looking just as cute and innocent as she did before.
Matt: I thought I lost you.
Guys: (mocking him) I thought I lost you.
Narrator: Lori just looked at him.
Lori: I just came back to say thanks for giving me my wallet back. Most people wouldn't have.
Matt: Oh. It was no problem.
Chris: Ask her out.
Matt: Dude just shuddup.
Lori: Well I got to go.
Greg: Where are you goin'?
Lori: I dunno. I just gotta leave.
Matt: Why? Don't you wanna hang out wit us?
Lori: 'Cuz the mall sucks.
Guys: Why does the mall suck?
Lori: 'Cuz there's too many girls around thinkin' they're hot shit and it's annoying me.
Frankie: Don't let them annoy you. Just ignore 'em.
Lori: It's kinda hard to ignore 'em when they're pushing you around and making fun of you, but of course you guys wouldn't have a clue what that's like.
Matt: Some people are jerks.
Lori: And some people just need to get over themselves and stop thinkin' that they're all that 'cuz they're not.
Matt: You can't let them get to you.
Lori: Easier said than done.
Greg: Why do you let them get to you?
Lori: 'Cuz I'm not a cold- hearted bitch....and I actually have feelings.
Matt: That's good that you're not like that.
Lori: No it's not. Everybody walks all over me. Maybe if I told 'em off they'd back off.
Matt: People are gonna talk no matter what. It's kinda sad when you think about it. I mean, if they have to treat people like shit they must have a pretty pathetic life.
Frankie: You just have to not pay any attention to it.
Lori: It's kinda hard though. How do you ignore someone who's makin' your life a livin' hell?
Matt: You just have to show the person that what they're doin' isn't getting to you. They'll get the hint and leave you alone.
Lori: And if they don't?
Matt: If they don't....tell 'em to fuck off.
Lori: Yeah I'm sure that'll go over well. Then I'll get my ass kicked.
Matt: I doubt you'll get your ass kicked. You just might get bitched at, depending on who it is.
Lori: I don't wanna get bitched at. I just want those stupid superficial snobs to leave me the hell alone.
Matt: Yeah, I get what you're sayin'. Nobody wants to get bitched at by a stupid superficial snob.
Lori: Oh. Come on Matt. We all know you like girls like that.
Matt: Umm....no.
Lori: No?
Matt: Yeah...no. (pause) I mean every guy likes a hot girl but when it comes down to a true friendship or relationship we need to be with a girl-next-door type of girl. Not some girl we can't trust.
Lori: And this is comin' from a guy who likes Shakira.
Matt: She's beautiful. What do you want me to say? That she's ugly?
Lori: No.
Matt: Good 'cuz she isn't. And you're just jealous.
Lori: Jealous?
Matt: Yeah you're jealous 'cuz I think Shakira's beautiful and not you.
Lori: Whatever. Fuck you.
Narrator: And with that she walked away, leaving Matt and his friends standing there shocked. Matt just stared after her, knowing that he shouldn't have said that.
Chris: That was mean Matt.
Jesse: Yeah, that was kinda harsh.
Greg: I thought you liked her.
Matt: I never said I liked her but if you want me to be completely honest, I'm starting to like her.
Greg: So if you like her why would you push her away?
Matt: (smiling) For my own entertainment....just to see her mad. She's kinda sexy.
Jesse: (rolling his eyes) Oh boy.
Frankie: She probably hates you....not that I blame her. You were pretty rude.
Matt: Yeah I know.
Greg: You should consider finding her and apologizing to her.
Matt: I'm scared.
Chris: You weren't scared when you said all that shit to her.
Matt: True.
Chris: Why'd you say all that crap anyway?
Frankie: Yeah I know. And Shakira's only beautiful 'cuz he has all those people workin' on her.
Greg: There is a thing called natural beauty. As gorgeous as those famous girls are that's all for show. It's fake.
Jesse: And Greg, just to let you know, that goes for Britney Spears, too.
Greg: Unfortunately.
Narrator: He frowned.
Chris: I think I like natural beauty better 'cuz some of those girls wear way too much make up. It's just- it's way overdone.
Frankie: Yeah it is.
Chris: They put way too much on. It makes me wonder what they're hidin'.
Greg: Natural beauty....that could definitely be a good thing.
Jesse: Yeah. Definitely. That means they're real...not fake.
Chris: They still could be fake though. I guess you'd have to get to know them to see if they're fake or not.
Matt: I wish I never said those things to her. I was an insensitive jerk. (pause) And I was just- I dunno. I think she's beautiful. I wish she would find it in her heart to forgive me.
Girl's Voice: Give me one good reason.
Narrator: The voice belonged to Lori and the guys knew it almost immediately. They looked at her and boy did she look pissed!
Chris: You look like you're about ready to kill someone.
Lori: I'm pissed off.
Matt: Why?
Lori: Don't act like you don't know Matt.
Matt: You're pissed off at me?!?!?
Lori: Boy you're quick. Nothin' gets by you.
Narrator: The guys laughed except for Matt. He was too busy looking at her in complete shock.
Matt: (flirting with her) You're kinda sexy when you get all mad Lorr.
Narrator: She gave him the middle finger in response.
Matt: (grinning) Anytime.
Lori: Whatever you friggin' Shakira obsessed freak.
Jesse: Shakira obsessed freak?
Narrator: And with that he burst out laughing.
Matt: (flirtatiously) I'd rather have you any day baby.
Lori: (grinning) As long as I have my Shakira costume on.
Narrator: Jesse started laughing even harder than before; soon all the guys were laughing, except for Matt, who looked like he was about ready to tackle her.
Matt: (flirtatiously) I just want you babe.
Lori: A few minutes ago I was jealous of Shakira 'cuz Matt thinks she's beautiful and not me....now he's callin' me a babe and all this shit. Guys are so misleading. Too bad they can't keep their stories straight.
Narrator: She frowned.
Matt: And what about you Ms. French? I mean you say that you love me...that you dreamed about being with me...that you care about me...and then you just left me hanging!
Lori: You're so full of it.
Matt: So you were lying to me? You don't really have those feelings for me?
Lori: Look in my eyes and tell me that there isn't love there.
Chris: This is gettin' way too emotional for me.
Narrator: Matt didn't say a word- he couldn't find the words to say. He was just too scared to admit that there was love in her eyes, even after the way he had treated her. There was still love there and that amazed him. It definitely was an eye opener for him- it made him realize that she was one of a kind, something special. He just wished he could take back everything he said to her, but he couldn't. What's done is done.
