Chapter Twelve- Let's Talk About....Anything and Everything

"Oh. I see." Lynn said. "So, you must be visiting some of your family members or something, right?" She looked over at Lori, who was looking in her bag, making sure she had everything.
"Actually, my family and I are kind of just touring and seeing the sights." Lori admitted.
"How'd you and Matt meet?" Matt's mom asked.
"This girl was giving me and the guys crap in FYE in Times Square and she stuck up for us and I just...fell in love." Matt said.
Lori looked at him in complete shock and he knew that what he had just said surprised his mom and Lori. It shocked and surprised him, too.
"What happened to that other girl?" his mom asked.
"What other girl?" Matt asked dumbfounded.
"I think her name was Alexia." Lynn said. "I didn't really care for her though. She took advantage of you. I think she wanted her five minutes of fame."
"I don't know any Alexia...and if I did, I forgot all about her when I met Lorr." Matt said. He got up and checked on the soup, but it wasn't done cooking yet.
"I'm gonna go change into my p.j.'s." Lori said breaking into their conversation.
"Second door on the left." Matt told her.
"OK." Lori smiled at him, gave him a kiss on the cheek then went upstairs to his room so she could change into her pajamas.
A few minutes later, as Matt stirred the soup to make sure it wouldn't stick to the bottom or burn to the bottom, he heard "When I Come Around" blasting from his room. Lori was upstairs in his room dancing to it; she was acting like a complete American idiot.
"Mom, can you keep an eye on the soup for a second?" Matt asked.
"Yes, I can." Lynn smiled.
Matt thanked his mom and raced upstairs to his room and when he opened his door, he laughed at the sight that was right in front of his eyes. Lori stopped jumping around and looked at him. "Having fun?" he asked as he slowly walked towards her.
"I love this song. I can't help it." Lori said.
"I can tell." Matt tried hard not to laugh. Then he said, "And yeah, it is a good song."
"You like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers right?" Lori asked hesitantly.
"Yeah. Do you?" he asked.
"Hmm....I like that song...." her voice trailed off.
"And what song is that?" Matt asked slightly confused.
"Californication." she said simply.
"Good song." Matt agreed.
"Yeah." Lori instantaneously agreed.
"So you like..NFG, GC, Sum 41, Green Day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.....what other bands do you like?" Matt asked out of curiosity.
"Simple Plan....the Offspring...Blink-182...I like almost anything." she admitted.
"What about Sublime?" he asked when she didn't mention them.
"Probably. I have an open mind, except....for shitty music. I don't like classical...blues....jazz...kinda stupid, but I like the fun music.." her voice trailed off.
"You like the loud music you can jump around to." he summarized.
"Hmm....yeah, but I like slow music too." She laughed.
"That you can slow dance to right?" he guessed.
"Well, what's the point in listening to slow music if you have no one to dance with?" Lori asked him.
"I dunno. What is the point?" he asked eyeing her.
"I was asking you dumbass." Lori smirked.
"Hey, I may be a dumbass but you know you love me." Matt smiled flirtatiously.
"Don't flatter yourself." she told him, trying hard not to laugh.
"Be nice!" he practically shouted at her.
"Me? Nice? Ha. I'm always nice." Lori giggled.
"I know. I was teasing you." he assured her.
"You were flirting with me." she corrected.
"Don't flatter yourself." he mocked.
"Don't be an ass." She playfully hit him in the arm.
"Ouch. That hurt." he said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes at her. "You're so tough." He laughed.
"Quit being mean to me." Lori frowned.
He took her hand and said, "Come on. Your soup might be ready by now."
"What are you doing?" she asked when he put his hand on her tummy.
"Does your tummy still hurt?" he asked looking at her.
"Kinda...yeah." she confessed. She pouted. "It bites monkeys."
"WHAT?" he couldn't believe what she had just said. The look on his face was priceless.
Lorr looked at him and said, "Being a girl sucks."
"It's a part of life princess." he told her sweetly.
"You try being a girl! See if you'll say it's a part of lifethen."
"OK. OK. I'm sure it can be a little overwhelming at times."
"I'd love to see you last 4 minutes with really bad cramps. I bet you'd be complaining the first second you go through it."
"That's why guys don't have kids.....we're wusses. Girls are tough and strong....they can get through anything."
"Are you confessiing to me that you're a wuss?"
"I'm not a wuss...I'm just admitting that guys are wusses and we'd be complaining a lot if we had to go through what you girls have to go through."
"Yeah. I know you would. You wouldn't last 2 seconds."
"I know I wouldn't, but I'm proud of you 'cuz as much as your stomach hurts and everything....you're still strong."
"You're proud of me?"
"Yeah, I am."
"MATT! LORR! HER SOUP IS READY!" Lynn shouted up to them.
"Your soup's ready."
"Matt....."
"Yeah?"
"Thanks." She smiled at him.
"For what?"
"For just being there for me and everything....it really means a lot to me. You have no idea how much it means to me."
"Aww. Anytime beautiful."
"Whoever that was has no clue what it's missing out on."
Matt laughed, smiled and said, "Oh well. I...to be honest, I'm not thinking about that person....I forgot when I met you. You're the girl in my life now. Well, at least I hope you are, but to be completely honest, I think you already are."
"I have to be honest about something too........I could....easily fall in love with you." she hesitated for a little bit but then managed to get the last part out.
