Chapter One- One Pain in the Butt

As Lori Diane French hopped in the back seat of the red mini-van she buckled her seat belt and unzipped her light purple and white Jansport bag to get her discman. Inside the discman was her favorite CD, Dream Street. Lori would admit to anyone that she was a HUGE fan of the boy band. And she defended them if somebody started gibed them. She wouldn't stand for it; she even yelled at her own family members- her mom (Jackie), her dad (Donnie), and her younger brother, Nick, who was 12 years old.

"Do we have everything?" Jackie asked looking around the inside of the van. She looked at the kids for an answer, but they totally ignored her. Not because they disrespected their mom, they were listening to the music that was blasting into their ears and out of their headphones.

Lori lip-synched to the words as she stared out the window, daydreaming about Matt, one of the members of Dream Street. She closed her eyes and saw him.

She opened her eyes a couple seconds later and thought, "I hope I meet him but then again...there's like NO chance of that ever happening."

"Can I listen to your Dream Street CD?" Nick asked. He tapped Lori on the shoulder and she looked over at him.

Turning the volume down, she asked, "What?"

"Can I listen to your Dream Street CD?" Nick repeated with an annoyed tone.

"I'm listening to it right now." Lori said simply.

"Well, when you're done listening to it, can I?" Nick asked.

"I'm probably gonna listen to it all the way to New York," she told him, "Sorry."

"I wanna listen to 'Nightmare Street'." he whined.

"It's DREAM STREET!" she yelled in annoyance. "Not NIGHTMARE STREET."

"Quit fighting you two." Donnie said getting annoyed with their stupid, pointless fight.

"Then tell him to stop making fun of Dream Street." Lori said before she turned up the volume so she couldn't hear what he said.

"Is there a reason why you won't let him listen to your Dream Street CD?" Jackie asked turning her head and looking back at Lori, who was now staring up at the bright, blue sky, daydreaming like she was before. She was wondering what the guys were up to...........

*~*~*~*WITH THE GUYS*~*~*~*

"OK guys. Take five." Claudia was telling them.

They were at the studio rehearsing for their concert that was taking place on Friday night at Madison Square Gardens. (It was only Monday afternoon around 2:15 P.M. The guys took their break without complaining and Matt whipped out his cell phone so he could call his girlfriend, Alexia.

The phone rang for several minutes before someone picked up.

"Hello?" the person on the other end of the line asked.

"Hi. Is Alexia there?" Matt asked.

"Oh. No she's not. She's out with her boyfriend." the woman's voice replied.

"She's out with her boyfriend?" Matt repeated, wondering if he had heard her right.

"Yeah. Her boyfriend Travis." the woman said. Then she asked, "Who is this?"

"It's Matt." he said reluctantly.

"Oh. Do you want me to take a message for her?" Alexia's mother asked.

"No. No message." Matt said. "Sorry I bothered you. Bye."

"Ok. Bye then." Alexia's mother said before she hung up.

"Did you get in touch with Ally?" Chris asked when Matt sat down in a chair next to him.

Matt shook his head and buried his face in his hands. "I can't believe this."

His friends and bandmates all exchanged looks with one another, wondering what was going on.

"No. I got in touch with her mother though." Matt answered.

"Why is that a bad thing? Did you leave a message with her mom?" Jesse asked puzzled.

"Her mother told me that she was out with her boyfriend." Matt began.

"Meaning you, right?" Greg raised an eyebrow. "Or did she mean somebody else?"

"Her mother said that she was out with her boyfriend Travis." he replied angrily. He rolled his eyes and said, "I should have seen it coming. No wonder why she's barely home and so distant. She's screwing me over."

"She's a gold digger." Chris said.

"Thanks for the sympathy. I really appreciate it." an upset and angry Matt said dryly.

*~*~*~*BACK WITH LORR*~*~*~*

The drive to New York was getting long and tiring. It seemed like forever before they even got there. Well, to Lori it did. She hated road trips, but they could never fly anywhere because her mom was scared of heights or whatever the case was.

"Are we there yet?" Lori whined as she tossed her discman to her backpack that was beside her.

"Can I listen to your Dream Street CD now seeing how you're not using it?" Nick asked.

Lori rolled her eyes and annoyingly said, "Fine. Whatever." She handed him the CD and turned her head to look out the window. I wish I was back at home. I'm so fuckin' bored, she thought to herself. I don't even know why I'm excited about going to New York. It's probably going to be boring and lame. Then again.....it could be pretty fun. She smiled to herself.
