Reality Slap- Chapter 5
Chris: So is she coming on tour with us?
Greg: We're going over her house later and we're going to talk to her parents.
Matt: You're going to meet her parents?
Greg: Yeah.
Lori: I'm so scared that they'll say no.
Greg: Think positive babe.
Lori: I'll try. It's just...what'll happen if they say no?
Greg: You mean, am I going to break up with you if they say no?
Lori: Y- Yeah.
Greg: Nah. I won't break up with you. I want to be with you. I'll find some way so you can be with me.
Lori: I love you.
Greg: I know you do and I love you too.
Chris: Are you nervous about meeting her parents?
Greg: Yeah, if you want me to be completely honest.
Lori: Don't be nervous. They'll love you.
Greg: I love you.
Lori: I love you, too.
Frankie: Didn't you guys just say that you loved each other a couple seconds ago?
Greg: Once I tell her that I love her I just want to say it over and over again.
Matt: Aww. Aren't you sweet.
Greg: Shove it Matt.
Jessica: Don't be usin' that kind of language in front of her parents.
Greg: I won't. I have to make a good impression.
Jesse: Are you more nervous about meeting her dad than her mom?
Greg: Yeah. I don't want her dad to like hate me.
Lori: Just take care of his little girl and you'll be fine.
Matt: Well his little girl ain't so little anymore.
Lori: And what is that supposed to mean?
Chris: He means you grew up.
Greg: Guys just leave her alone.
Lori: I'm too nervous to eat anything.
Greg: Well you have to eat something.
Lori: Why?
Narrator: Greg looked at her and wondered what she meant by that.
Greg: Because you'll get sick if you don't eat something.
Lori: Oh. Yeah. Right. I knew that.
Chris: You don't have an eating disorder do you?
Lori: No, but I've tried one of 'em.
Greg: No you haven't.
Lori: Yeah, I have.
Greg: Which one?
Lori: I made myself throw up. Happy now?
Greg: No I'm not happy now.
Jesse: That's disgusting. Why would you do that?
Lori: To lose weight.
Matt: There's better ways of losing weight than doing that shit.
Lori: I know OK? Now back off.
Greg: You don't still do that, do you?
Lori: No. I stopped.
Greg: Good.
Frankie: Do you still get the urge to do it?
Lori: Sometimes, but it's such a pain in the ass.
Matt: Well duh. You're stickin' your finger down your throat.
Greg: You wanna get something to eat Lori?
Lori: Yeah. I wanna go to Papa Ginos.
Greg: Where's that?
Lori: At the Lilac Mall...down the street from the high school I go to.
Jesse: Not another mall.
Greg: Do you want to go alone Lori?
Lori: Umm...I would like to talk to you... you know...
Narrator: Jesse, Matt, Chris, Frankie, Jessica and Tanya left the room. They hung out in the kitchen for a little while. Jessica exchanged looks with Tanya.
Jessica: When did this become all about Lori?
Narrator: Jesse, Matt, Chris and Frankie glanced at one another.
Jessica: I mean it's like we don't even exist.
Narrator: Jesse, Matt, Chris and Frankie kept on exchanging looks with one another and there was no sound coming from the living room. Lori and Greg were standing in the doorway and Lori heard everything that they said. They didn't say a word though.
Tanya: I know what you mean. I just hope Lori doesn't go getting a big head because she's dating Greg.
Jessica: Now that she is she's going to start thinking she's hot shit.
Tanya: How do you know that?
Jessica: I just do.
Tanya: But how?
Chris: Are you guys mad at Lori?
Jessica: We're just annoyed because it's all about Lori now. It's like we don't matter and it's pissing me off.
Chris: Why is it pissing you off?
Frankie: It's Lori's time to shine you guys.
Jesse: Why are you guys being so selfish?
Jessica: We're not being selfish!
Chris: Why can't you be happy for Lori?
Jessica: We are happy for her. It's just...you guys are all focused on her. It's almost like me and Tanya are invisible.
Narrator: Lori couldn't take it anymore.
Lori: If you guys didn't want me to come to the meet and greet you could have just told me! You could have had the guys all to yourselves! You only wanted me to come along because you knew I wouldn't talk. You figured the guys wouldn't even know I'm alive! If they didn't know I was alive they would have focused on you! But you wanna know something? This will make you all fuckin' happy! I'm not going to another Dream Street meet and greet or concert! And I'll break up with Greg if you want me to just to make you two fuckin' happy!
Narrator: Lori left the kitchen extremely pissed off and Greg just looked at Tanya and Jessica.
Greg: Thanks a lot you two. Now Lori's going to break up with me.
Jessica: That's not our fault. That's her decision.
Greg: You guys are just jealous.
Tanya: We're not jealous Greg.
Chris: Before you three start fighting, Greg, don't you think you should go and talk to your girlfriend?
Narrator: Lori walked back and forth in the street, kicking every rock as hard as she could, when she heard a front door close. She looked where it was coming from and saw Greg slowly walking towards her. When they were face to face, she saw that tears were falling from his eyes.
Lori: What's wrong Greg?
Greg: You're gonna break up with me and I'm----- gonna lose you. Lorr, I don't want to lose you. I need you. I want you. Please don't break up with me.
Narrator: Greg wasn't normally a crier, but he started crying even harder.
Greg: I- I l-love you so much Lori.
Lori: I- I'm not gonna break up with you. I never was planning on breaking up with you. I just said that because I was letting off steam. (pause) Come here.
Narrator: She held out her arms and Greg hesitated before he let her take him in her warm, loving embrace. She held him so tight and close and he put his arms around her.
Greg: Are you sure you're not gonna break up with me?
Lori: I'm positive. I'm not going to break up with you.
Narrator: He backed away from her and saw the same look of love and adoration in her eyes.
Greg: I believe you.
Lori: Well I would hope that you believe me.
Greg: Can you promise me something?
Lori: Sure. And what's that?
Greg: That you'll never say anything like that again. That you won't let somebody's jealousy keep us apart.
Lori: I promise.
Greg: Lorr, I love you.
Lori: I love you too, Greg.
* Inside Jessica's House *
Matt: Why are you guys so pissed off at Lori?
Jessica: Because it's all about her now. None of you guys know we're alive.
Frankie: We know you're alive. We just don't understand why you would do that to someone who you call your friend.
Jessica: And I can't believe that she thinks it's all about her.
Chris: She doesn't think it's all about her. YOU'RE the one who thinks it's all about you. And Jessica, to be honest with you, it's not all about you. Stop being so self- centered. Damnit. You were never like this before. Now that Lori's come into our lives you've changed and you're so angry. Now quit ruining this for Lori and Greg. They don't deserve it.
Jessica: I can't believe you.
Chris: And I can't believe you.
Jessica: I want you guys out of my house. I never wanna talk to you guys ever again.
Chris: Fine. We'll just stay at Lori's.
Jessica: Fine. Go stay at that whore's house. I don't give a shit anymore.
Chris: And we don't give a shit about you, you stupid bitch.
Narrator: Chris stormed out of the room and left the house, his friends following behind him. Jessica looked at Tanya and they just shrugged their shoulders. The guys walked over to Lori and Greg, who were making out. Frankie cleared his throat and they immediately separated.
Greg: Oh. Um...hi guys.
Guys: Hi.
Chris: Look, Lori, I'm really sorry about Jessica.
Lori: Don't be. She has a problem with me. I just don't understand why. I mean, it's not like I think it's all about me. I don't. I'm just trying to enjoy this moment as much as possible.
Matt: We know.
Frankie: I don't think we're friends with them anymore.
Lori: Oh. I'm sorry.
Narrator: Greg stood beside her and slipped his arm around her waist.
Greg: You have nothing to be sorry about. They're the ones who should be apologizing to all of us.
Lori: I shouldn't have came to the meet and greet. None of this would have never happened.
Frankie: Yeah you should have.
Lori: And why do you say that?
Frankie: You can't just give up on your dream. You have to follow it.
Lori: And what dream would that be?
Guys: You wanted to meet Greg and be with him more than anything.
Chris: Because you came your dream came true. Just think if you didn't come. Your dream would still be just a dream instead of reality.
Lori: OK. You have a point. I just wish I had friends.
Greg: You have four friends and a boyfriend, Lorr. And you don't need friends who treat you like shit. You deserve better than that.
Matt: We could introduce her to the girls of Play. They're pretty cool.
Lori: Play? Are you kidding me?
Greg: What? You don't like them?
Lori: I didn't say that. It's just....I don't know. I'd rather be friends with guys. Being friends with girls is just...there's too much drama and I hate it.
Matt: We could introduce her to Aaron Carter. He's a cool guy.
Narrator: Lori burst out laughing, but stopped.
Lori: You guys don't have to introduce me to anybody. I'm happy just being friends with you and being your girlfriend.
Matt: Or Jump 5. They're awesome.
Lori: Their songs are awesome. I love Jump 5, but still, like I said before, you guys don't have to introduce me to anybody. I'm not friends with you for that reason.
Matt: Yeah, but it is a plus.
Lori: Matt.
Matt: I'm sorry. It's just....just imagine all the things you could do if you had a ton of friends. I could introduce you to my brother.
Greg: He's the same age as her. I don't think so.
Lori: MATT! You don't have to introduce me to anybody!
Greg: Lori has spoken.
Matt: I want to do something for you.
Lori: Don't.
Matt: She's a difficult one.
Greg: Yeah but I still love her.
Matt: I know you do.
Chris: We could introduce you to Angel Carter. You two would get along. Or we could introduce you to Lindsay Lohan...Hilary Duff...
Lori: Then I'd have to worry about losing Greg. No thanks.
Greg: You won't lose me!!
Chris: If you could be friends with anyone in the world who would you be friends with?
Lori: You guys.
Chris: Somebody besides us 'cuz you already got us as friends.
Lori: Ummm.....I don't know. Nobody.
Greg: Nobody?
Lori: Yeah. I don't know. I don't know who I'd want to be friends with.
Greg: What about the girls from 3rd Faze?
Narrator: Lori rolled her eyes.
Lori: NO!!
Greg: OK.
Matt: You really don't know who you'd be friends with?
Lori: I really don't know. (pause) Being friends with Lindsay might be pretty cool, but still I don't exactly like her.
Chris: Why?
Lori: Just because I don't.
Greg: Wanna be friends with my younger sisters?
Narrator: Lori smiled.
Lori: Amanda, Nicole. Daniella.
Matt: Hey she knows your sisters' names.
Lori: Yeah I do. (pause) And yeah I'd be friends with them.
Greg: I'm sure they need an older girl in their life...you know...so they can talk about girl things...
Lori: Yeah. It could be weird talking to an older brother, who's so overprotective, but that's a good thing though.
Greg: Yeah. Somebody's gotta watch out for 'em.
Lori: You're a great older brother.
Jesse: How do you know?
Lori: I just know.
Jesse: Wanna be friends with Leah and the Tmac?
Narrator: Leah and Tmac were Jesse's younger sister and younger brother. Lori just smiled.
Lori: If I visit Greg in New York, if we're still together, and you guys need a baby-sitter or somethin' call me.
Jesse: Tmac's gonna love you. I have a feeling Leah's going to like you, too, even though she might ask you if you only like Greg because of his fame.
Lori: Hey a girl's gotta watch out for her brother's friends.
Jesse: Yeah, but if she gives you trouble come tell me.
Lori: I'll be sure to do that.
Matt: You can baby-sit my brother, too.
Lori: Matt, we're the same age. I highly doubt that David needs a baby-sitter.
Narrator: Matt laughed.
Matt: (shrugging his shoulders) Hey, it was worth a shot.
Lori: Yeah.
Frankie: Would you ever wanna be friends with the girls of Play?
Chris: You know...Anais, Rosie, Anna and Faye.
Lori: Yeah, I know who they are and I don't know. They might be conceited.
Greg: No. They're not. They're actually really down-to-earth. They're not big-headed like some teen stars.
Lori: I'd rather just hang out with Aaron Carter instead of girls because with girls there's nothing but fights and drama. I'm over that crap.
Greg: Not a drama queen, huh?
Lori: Would you rather have me be a drama queen? Because I'm sure I can be.
Guys: NO!
Greg: Stay the way you are. You're cool.
Matt: And beautiful.
Jesse: And sweet.
Chris: And sexy.
Frankie: And fun to be around.
Greg: You keep things interesting.
Lori: Wow. Thanks guys.
Guys: Anytime.
Matt: So who wants to go eat?
Lori: I wanna get outta here. I'm starting to think that I'm being watched.
Chris: That's because Greg's watching you.
Greg: And--- your point would be what?
Chris: Oh no point. No point at all.
Jesse: Can we please go eat? I'm hungry.
Lori: Yeah. I'm hungry, too.
Greg: Yeah we can go eat.
Narrator: Lori looked at all the guys.
Lori: Who's driving?
Frankie: I guess I could, but I can't because I don't have a car.
Greg: None of us can drive. We don't have our permits yet.
Jesse: And I'm too young.
Guys: We know Jesse. We know.
Lori: I guess I could call my mom and see if she can drop us off at the mall then pick us up.
Greg: Good idea.
Narrator: The other guys nodded their heads in agreement. Lori called her mom and soon they were in the van, on their way to the Lilac Mall, talking and laughing like old friends.
